Great book for both the husband and wife to read to better understand the woman's perspective on life. Wish my daughter would read it too.

Thank you so much John and Stasi for the awesome indepth series Captivating. I got to facilitate it in our "Ladies Tea" Group at our church. I felt very inadequate teaching the older ladies from our church since i was a divorcee. But, I was obedient to what God called me to do and the outcome was tremendous. The ladies opened up and shared things they has never shared before. The Holy Spirit moved and I know that it helped me discover the "heart" that God gave to women. Would strongly recommend this series to any Ladies Group, young or old.

I also read "Wild at Heart". What and awesome book. Im now reading "Love and War".

I received this book as a gift, and was greatly anticipating what it would be like. I had seen it advertised in CBD, and had been wanting to look into it. I began reading it, and found myself needing to read between the lines of the writing in order to justify some of the statements (such as referring to the Proverbs 31 woman as an 'infamous icon' - see page 6).

I do not care for the melodramatic writing style or the frequent references to popular movies and celebrities (particularly the mention of having fantasies about Daniel Day-Lewis looking deep into your eyes - creepy). They ramble about fantasy movie examples and how they somehow relate to our feelings and/or purpose.

It is very repetitive and has some concerning ideas about how important we women are (the crowning moment in creation and so on). The glorification of women makes me uncomfortable. I think more emphasis of Christ working in us to create beauty, rather than the concept of "The essence of a woman is Beauty. She is meant to be the incarnation-our experience in human form-of a Captivating God" would be a major improvement.

Last thing: wish I could tell who was writing when.

Needs more scriptural backup to add weight to an otherwise fluffy, sentimental book. Over-rated.
