I purchased this set for my 2nd grade daughter, who loves art, as a supplemental activity to our homeschooling day. I have several children and always find it hard to squeeze in "art". My daughter is really enjoying this and is learning a lot. I would highly suggest purchasing the workbook that goes along with this set. It will keep all the drawings together, and it's used in the DVDs.
I bought this DVD set for my two daughters to use over summer vacation. We have not been able to use them for two reasons. The first reason is that we definitely needed the accompanying book, which is not indicated in this site's description. Based on the description, I would have expected that the DVD's would have taken the place of the book and that I would only need to purchase art supplies. Secondly, the DVD format does not play without stalling, crackling, etc. on any of the four DVD players in our house. Very disappointing! Unfortunately this review is reflective of the DVD quality and product description, rather than the content. If you can get the DVD to play and have the book, the minimal amount of the instruction that we were able to view appeared to be useful.
we found this to be a great resource to add to our homeschooling curriculum. We already had the "I can do all things" art book but I found it hard to sit with each child to give instruction as I had 2 younger ones under foot. I can put on the dvd and set the children up with their supplies and art book and let them pause the dvd when needed. His instructions are easy to understand and he shows you close up what he's doing. It's a great step by step instruction that anyone could follow along with. The lessons are short and sweet and by the end your kids will have a great foundation in art!
