Author Bio

REGINA FRANKLIN is a graduate of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, where she earned a degree in English and secondary education. She has taught high school English in both public and private schools. Working alongside her husband, who is a full-time youth pastor, Regina feels a strong burden for the young women in their church. She and her husband, Scott, have two young children and live in Georgia.

Excellent message concerning our inner, godly beauty. However, I found a few points needing discernment. Throughout the book, Jer. 29:11-13 is used out of context (which isn't unusual). The passage is about God's use of and plan for Israel, not any individual. It makes a good analogy, but that should be noted. Several times the author writes about how God created us. God created only Adam and Eve and the rest of us came about by procreation in the natural course of events. God sees what we will be like, but He doesn't ordain it.Since being overweight was the author's main personal issue, aside from her excellent teaching about weight not being a reflection of one's worth I think she needed to emphasize that an overweight condition is usually the result of over-eating - gluttony - which is a sin, and the lack of self-control associated with it. There were some other minor issues, but overall the book is an excellent teaching resource. April 8, 2008

Who Calls Me Beautiful? is a book that will bless all woman, both young and old, who desire to see their beauty through God's eyes. Author, Regina Franklin, allows herself to be very transparent in regards to the process she has endured in understanding her own struggles with beauty, which gives the reader the opportunity to open her own eyes to the truth of her own struggles with beauty and to find freedom in the eyes of God. This is such a wonderful book for individual reading or group study and discussion. I will be using it in my church's young women's group to help train our ladies. Beautiful!! February 9, 2007

I loved this book! I am currently on my second time reading it (it's that good) and I would recommend it to any woman with image issues. I have struggled with my personal appearance since middle school and this book has helped me to see my true beauty in the eyes of God, not the eyes of the world. November 10, 2006
