Editorial Reviews

I really enjoyed these stories and I am giving Calico Brides 4 out of 5 stars. Each woman's story was very touching and their missionary projects were extremely inspirational. The entire book was filled with Christian wisdom and love, which I enjoyed. This book actually had more "Christianity" in it than most Christian books I've read, but it never came across off as preachy. Each young woman was so godly while still being human. I especially enjoyed the story of Birdie, a former prostitute. I loved how her story portrayed God's Love for us as sinners and how he's so willing to forgive us. She really was the epitome of the "born again" message.

This was an enjoyable book that combined four separate, yet interwoven stories. Four women in a sewing circle decide to bless those in need. Each woman finds a different project (person or family) to help. The stories were easy to read and well written. While all were a little predictable, that was not a bad thing. I did enjoy this book and it was fun to have all four stories continue from one to the other. All of the stories did a good job of showing God’s love and provision for everyone. All of the women find that blessing others ends up blessing them as well and brings love into their lives. I found these stories to be uplifting.
