Back Home, the 11th album from Caedmon's Call, offers some of the band's finest musical moments to date and is a collection of songs of which they are truly proud. "The overall vision was to make a record that had nothing influencing it except us," explains keyboardist and co-producer Josh Moore. "The only way for us to express the songs in the way that they naturally make us feel when we play them is to create this record ourselves. I think Back Home sounds similar to the band's initial style- you hear a bunch of old friends making music together. There's nothing too lofty or over-produced about it."

As the leader of music at my church, I listen to a lot of bands to try and find the gems and try to stay on top of what's out there. It feels like a waste of time, because there is so much nothing out there. But then something comes along to restore my faith. "Back Home" is a great CD. The lyrics prioritize the kind of creativity God showed us in making a way for sinners to have eternal life, rather than the catchy but disposable words that never last the week. And the music, while accessible to contemporary ears, is also immensely satisfying from an artistical standpoint. Great work, C.C., and thank you so much. I look forward to many hours of listening and discovering the depths of meaning, the musicianship, the arrangements, the art.

Derek, keep writing and singing! Your songs are so real and people can completely empathize with them! Awesome album. But then, we've come to expect no less!

I was on my way to the local Borders Cafe, and when I got inside, I went towards the music section and found this CD on one of this listening station thingys. Caedmon's Call has been around for years and the last few CD's have not been the best from them. Take "Long Line Of Leavers" and mixed that with ordinary blugrass stuff and it did not sound like anything from them in the past albums. The album that I loved from them was "40 Acers" I was searching for something better so when I found out that this was going to be out, I just couldn't wait to hear this CD to see if they had anything changed. When I heard the CD, I was impressed finally because not only the lyrics have blown sky high, but the music on this CD was just mind boggling to say the best. All 7 members of the band blend beautifully this time around and just fasinated me at the top point. Instead of liking just 4 songs on "Long Line Of Leavers" I love all tracks from this CD. The best CD yet in the history of Caedmon's Call. Also this time around, there were better vocals Danielle was outstanding in "Walk With Me", and personally the best song for my life was "Beautiful Mystery". All songs sound uptempo and I do say it was a good idea to only have Derek sing only 2 songs, because I get kinda agrivated when I hear him sing. Something in the way he sings just get's to me most of the time. I really recommend getting this CD because it is the best I have ever heard from Caedmon's Call ever since "40 Acers", truly Caedmon's Call is back to home.

Artistically, Caedmons Call is one of the finest groups in CCM and this album once again shows that true devotion to the Lord and fine musicianship are not mutually exlusive.
The acoustic guitar work (as usual) is outstanding as are the vocals. But what makes CC's music awesome are the beautifully written lyrics. I really like the lyrics to "The High Countries". If you like Christian pop/rock with some artistic talent, thien this CD is a must buy.

I just got this CD and it is awesome!!
The only thing I didn't really like is that my favorite Derek Webb is only singing 2 songs.
