Buried Treasures is a wonderful, light romance. It can be read in one long read. The story line keeps your attention. Mary Manners is a great author in that she develops the characters into believable, everyday people. Her settings are described in such detail that nothing is left out. I can't wait to read more of her books!
I recieved this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the story of two people, Caroline and Matt, both carrying their own secrets, one willing to reach out the other not so much. Throw in some lively and fun characters such as Paul, Sue, Andie and Callie. You will fall in love with the characters and their lives. You will find yourself cheering as well as shaking your head in disbelief at some things but this thing is for sure, you won't be able to put it down until you find out what happens in so many of the situations presented. It is a page turner of a different kind. Pick one up and see what you think.
I was given this book by Mary Manners with no strings attached, but to post a review, and this is my honest opinion of this story...one of many. Must go find some more!!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is well a written christian romance story. You will find romance, overcoming fears, trust and faith. A lot happens in the lives of the well developed characters.
A year after her husband was murdered, Caroline inherits her Aunt Nora's house in Tennessee. She leaves Chicago to move there and have a new start. She wants nothing more than to protect her daughter Callie and keep their hearts and lives from being shattered again. Matt a friend and neighbor of Aunt Nora's is helping to fix the house up so it will be livable for Caroline. Matt who lost his wife and baby is also struggling. Also in the mix his nephew Paul has come to live with him while his mother finds her way. Matt and Caroline feel themselves being drawn to each other but are cautious as they are still battling the loss of their loved ones. Will their relationship move forward? Can they trust again? What will happen in Paul's life?
This book can easily be read in one sitting and if you like christian romance you will like this story.
I recommend this book.
I received this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.
This is a delightful romantic novella. Having inherited a Tennessee home from her aunt, Caroline can finally leave Chicago and the memories of the brutal murder of her husband. All she wants to do is concentrate on raising her six year old daughter and protect their hearts from being shattered again.
Her plans are disrupted when she meets Matt, her aunt's next door neighbor and contractor who is fixing up the house. He has issues he needs to work through too. He has guilt over the death of his wife and he is caring for the teen son of his alcoholic sister.
Manners has created wonderful and believable characters. Both Caroline and Matt are cautious of a new relationship, their hurt being so deep. Both sense an attraction and struggle with it. My favorite character is little six year old Callie. She is a kick, so open and honest and loving. Who wouldn't fall in love with her?
The plot moves along quickly. There are no fluffy scenes or dialog. It's all essential to the developing story. There is suspense too when little Callie goes missing on a stormy night.
Are you looking for a sweet Christian romance that is well written, with believable characters and a satisfying plot? This is it.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this novella through the Book Club Network for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. One of those you don't put down till your done. I love the characters. Loved sweet little Callie. Caroline left Chicago after her husband is murdered. She inherites her Aunts home in Tennessee way out in the country. Her only desire is to raise and protect her daughter. Protecting them from ever being hurt again. Then there is Matt the guy next door. Matt has issues he is dealing with over the loss of his wife and helping with a nephew while his sister is getting her life together. Can the two come together and learn to trust one another? This book is great. Another great story by Mary Manners.
