This is the first in Irene Hannons Men of Valor series. I read the second book about a month ago and realized I had missed the first book. I enjoyed the second so much that I just had to read this one and am glad I did. Theres lots of action, suspense, mystery, and romance. The romance is more like a hint at the potential of things to come. The book starts mysteriously with a prologue involving three young college students trying to decide what to do about the body of a fourth person who was somehow killed while they were on a joyride out in the country. Immediately questions come to mind: who is the deceased person, how did she die, and who is the person speaking in first person that seems to take charge? Then the author moves to the present day with a skeleton being found on a construction site. Although there is much speculation on the part of the detectives as well as the reader about the skeleton, the writer keeps us guessing. Many of the answers dont come until near the end of the book. The tension really builds throughout the book but gets intense the closer you get to the end. I believe anyone who loves great suspense will enjoy this book. I recommend it. By the way, there are three McGregor brothers so I am looking forward to book three and the third brothers story.

Have read other books by this author and this one was as well written as the others. Great mystery, a little romance but not overwhelming and mushy. Will be passing this one on.

Some novels tagged as Romantic Suspense are heavy on the romance, not so much on the suspense. When Irene Hannon writes a novel, and tags it as romantic suspense, you can be sure she delivers as much suspense as romance. Buried Secrets was a treat to read as construction workers dig out roots, and more, Lisa digs for answers. In the prologue we are introduced to the scene and characters playing a role in the story twenty-five years before the actual story. Irene leads us through the evidence whether circumstantial all these years after the fact, or clues or articles that were inadvertently missed originally, to find just what secrets are buried. Page turner? Check. Adrenaline surging? Most definitely. Well defined characters, word imagery used to perfection to make the reader not only involved in the search, but in the story completely. i loved the novel, and read the book in one day as I just needed to know what was going to happen, and if they would find out who the girl was and what had actually happened. In the end, it comes to a satisfactory conclusion. There are jerks, there are those I felt sorry for, but in the end I was happy.

Thank you to Nuts about Books, and Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group for the opportunity to read this book. I was given a free book in exchange for an honest review. A positive critique was not required. The opinions are my own.
