I was surprised at how much I loved this book! I recommend it to all Christian families looking for suggestions and encouragement in raising up their children for Christ. It truly is a wonderful resource!
I loved how he talked about divorce not being an option, and how we must not expect our teen children to rebel. That expecting them to become wild as teens becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy, and that it is right to expect our children to act as Christians when they become teens if that is how we have raised them (and I know many who are blessings and not headaches to their parents).
I got some great ideas about cultivating contentment and thankfulness in my children, which we have already implemented in our home.

Great faith building book!
If you are a first time parent, wanting a better family life, needing help in trying to build better values, standards and family time, then this should be a MUST read! It is great to find an author that tells it like it is (these are hard to find these days). To build a strong family means YOU must take action and give of yourself unselfishly.
You have to invest time in your children, the same way you would do your job to gain promotions or better pay, to build strong family ties! Dave lets you know that YES, this can be done but YOU have to put in the time and the LOVE. I feel this is a great book for ALL families!

An inspiring call to lead your family to joy
In this second installment of the Faithful Families series, Dave Stone returns with more practical advice to guide and encourage your family. Who wouldn't want a family that is characterized by joy? Dave Stone provides the tools to get you there, based on Biblical guidance, such that you can create an "unbreakable" family to withstand the times of trials that all families inevitably face. The author walks the readers through creating a family mission statement, and calls families to commit to such goals as eating family dinners together regularly, serving God together, and using words of love and purity in the family home.
Once again, Pastor Stone has stirred my heart with his words, delivered in a practical, easy-to-digest format that inspired me with his call to lead my family to be one filled with joy. Any family that would put into practice the principals shared in this book would emerge stronger and better for the effort. One chapter that especially spoke to me was the one entitled "I've Got Your Back", which teaches you to help your children see that "when it comes to the family, you're a team. You defend one another. You stick up for one another". In my own job working with families, all too often I see the opposite occurring, where husbands, wives, and children are all busy seeing to their own needs and tearing each other down. Just this one principal would make such a difference for so many families! I also love the idea of having a family mission statement, which may seem like too much work to some, but in practice is easy to create, and serves as a rallying point for the family. The focus on serving others as a family and shifting the spotlight off of ourselves is also such an important one, yet also so exciting, because I know from experience that it is those times you are giving to others together that you end up getting blessed yourself!
I could go on and on, but in the end I just encourage you to read this book for yourself, and not only to read it but actually put it into practice. I know I'm planning to!
I highly recommend this book and award it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The dynamics of a family are much different today then it was 10 years ago. BEWARE: This book is designed for those who want to have Stronger families. We live in a world where technology is supposed to make our lives simplier but instead it has impacted "THE FAMILY " in such a way to what it is becoming more and more Instinct.
This book addresses the very issues that have attacked "Family Life" as we know it today and how to Counter it. One of the ways is to have a Mission statement. "You can't get to where you want to be until you know where you want to go." Having A Family Mission Statement is actually more crucial than you may realize. "If you chase two rabbits, both will escape." -- John C Maxwell
The best part of having a Mission statement is having a Blue Print to check it with . This will let you know the strength and weak areas. I even came up with a Family Mission Statement which is :
"As for me and my house we will serve the LORD. We were created by God for God."
The good thing is the book came out just in time and when you have a Family Strong You have A Family that is closer to one another and above all that is closer to God
