Boys are different! But with pressure to be "gender neutral," many try to mold children into a one-size-fits-all model. Dr. Dobson explains why boys are the way they are, how to understand their emotional and physical development, and the best way to motivate them to become godly men.
2002 Gold Medallion Award winner! With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, its no wonder so many parents and teachers are at a loss about how to bring up boys. Our culture has vilified masculinity and, as a result, boys are suffering. Parents, teachers, and others involved in shaping the character of boys have many questions. In Bringing Up Boys, Dr. James Dobson, Americas most trusted authority on family issues, tackles these questions and offers advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles. Bringing Up Boys--a must-read book for parents, teachers, social workers, youth leaders, counselors--anyone involved in the challenge of turning boys into good men.

I am a mother of 3 boys, and I have only gotten a few pages into this book, but so far this is worth every penny! It had me laughing so hard it was bringing tears to my eyes. This is truely a book about REAL boys!!! I have at times thought my boys were "out of hand" because of their "wierd" behavor but from this book's statement... They are "normal"! You need to have a couple if you have boys in the family!!!

I've read this book almost twice now because it's got so much information to be able to grasp it all if read only once. It's such a wonderful book, I would recommend it to anyone that has a boy. It would explain a lot of what he does and what to expect next. As a mother of an active boy, I can tell you that it will help you relax and be more at ease knowing that what your boy is doing is what boys are meant to do, it's their nature, so just read on and enjoy this great book!

What a timely book for parents raising boys in a world that seems so hostile to characteristics that makes boys special! Our church has used the video presentation with great success. I have a supply on hand to give as gifts to parent(s)of boys.

Dr. James Dobson simply acknowledges the obvious: boys and girls are different. From that premise he develops an effective strategy for raising boys into dynamic Christians while meeting their specific emotional, social and physical needs. An expected twist to this book: it will help wives (and propsective wives) better understand their husbands. It will make an excellent wedding gift. This book is a great value for the price! There is so much information inside that I know I am going to read it more than once. It is just horrible how many things are going on in the world today against boys and how little is being done to help these future men. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who has a son or grandson. We have been blessed with these little guys and we need to show them how to be strong, Godly men. The world wants to destroy our boys, but we can't let them...I WILL NOT, WILL YOU?
