With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, it's no wonder so many parents and teachers are at a loss about how to bring up boys. Our culture has vilified masculinity and, as a result, boys are suffering. Parents, teachers, and others involved in shaping the character of boys have many questions. In Bringing Up Boys, Dr. James Dobson, America's most trusted authority on family issues, tackles these questions and offers advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles. Bringing Up Boysa must-read book for parents, teachers, social workers, youth leaders, counselorsanyone involved in the challenge of turning boys into good men.
The audio book is read by Wayne Shepard and punctuated by original music.

I have listen to the audio twice, I am a new mom of a 19 month old son, because of the way our society is today, I want to make sure I instill good value in my son. I must say this audio have made me so much more aware of the things I need to pay attention to in my son. Thank you Dr. Dobson, there were some very alarming things that I learn, I will be recommending to all my friends with boys.

The narrator of this audio book does a great job enunciating and changing his voice to emphasize points. This was a great gift for my husband who is an auditory learner and has a long commute each morning and evening for listening. The content is good and brought up some great talking points for us when wondering how to work with our son on some behaviors. At times, however, it went down "rabbit trails" that are addressed in Dr. Dobson's other books - not that these weren't useful at all, but they got a little long and repetitive. The topical chapters make up for this somewhat - you can easily skip parts that don't really apply and go to information you need now. Overall a worthwhile read/listen!

I just remarried to a man that is raising his 4 year old grandson. There are many things that we have to deal with because of his grandson's mom and dad (who never married) We thought that this would be good to listen to. I would highly recommend it. It made me realize that many of the things that boys do are just because they're boys. I've raised three children with my deceased husband, the youngest being 28. So its been a while and I needed to readjust back into the motherhood role. This book addresses many of the things that we're dealing with although I wish Dr. Dobson would say more about people in our situation. I think that more and more grandparents are raising their children's children.

What a great call to all parents of boys! Dr. Dobson provides facts and encouragement to help peel back the layers of worldliness that have come to feel normal. He brings you back to the heart of parenting as God intended.

So far so good... haven't heard it all, but it is definitely a good resource if you are at all 'bringing up boys'. I agree with many of the points, but not all, but still nice to hear ideas and another point of view. Gave a little insight, maybe, about understanding my husband as well.
