Breath of Angel, Angeleon Circle Series #1
I didn't expect this book to be as good as it was, being that I'm in my mid-20s reading a young adult fiction. However, this kept my attention throughout, and made me want to buy the next book in the series. It isn't cheesy, as some fantasy can be. It isn't nauseating, as some romance can be. The adventure is exciting, as you learn new facets of their world with every turn of the page. A very entertaining read.
If you are wondering as to whether the content is Christian appropriate, I think so. The main character is a priestess to the "Most High" and is a moral girl. Not much Christian theme presents itself in the book, but it is a fantasy book, meant to entertain.
I found it rather clever, and highly recommend it.

Angels. Shape-shifters. Myths and storiesâÂÂuntil no
A cloaked stranger enters the temple courtyard and before the young priestess, Sontress Melaia, could properly welcome the stranger he is attacked by a shape-shifter, hawk and man. Melaia desperately beats the hawk with a stick to get it away from the stranger. The hawk takes off in a cloud of smoke. But to no avail the stranger had been killed and Melaia watched as his spirit left his body to disappear into the cracks of the courtyard floor. When she attempts to remove the strangers cloak, in order to prepare his body, Melaia is shocked to find a bloodied set of wings. It appears the stranger was an ANGEL.
This is where the story gets even more intriguing. A handsome Envoy Trevin, dispatched by their King, comes to the temple and is given a very rare harp along with the Songstress Melaia as a gift to their King. It appears she is taken from her only home and has become nothing more than chattel for her King. As she is about to be presented to the King the story reveals a blood feud that is actually between two brothers and Melaia seems to be in the very center of the battle. She escapes and finds a safe haven among a band of angels. This is where the real TRUTH is revealed, and an ancient dept is to be paid, the âÂÂbreath of angel, blood of man,âÂÂa payment that involves MelaiaâÂÂs heart, soul, and destiny.
This book has really peaked my interest into Angels and the different spheres of Angels.
I highly recommend this Christian Young Adult Fantasy.
I rated this book a 4 out of 5. Only because it was a little out of my genre. No fault of the author.
I was provided a free copy of this book by WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review. I was in no way compensated for this review it is own opinion.

I really enjoyed this book.
The night Melaia, a sixteen-year-old priestess, witnesses a murder in the temple courtyard, she finds out that the stories of angels and shape-shifters arenâÂÂt myths. TheyâÂÂre real. A message found in the murdered manâÂÂs hand is only the beginning: âÂÂNow is payment due in fullâÂÂ.
Sent to serve a king in a distant land, Melaia thought she could trust Trevin, the young kingsman guarding her, only to discover later that his motive the entire time was to betray her later. Then she discovers a shocking secret about the events surrounding her birth, and it becomes her task to find the three k⦠harps to restore the stairway to heaven, allowing angels stranded in the earthly realm to return. Working against those trying to stop the stairway from being restored, Melaia must fulfill the ancient debt- breath of angel, blood of man- which only she is able to do.
From the description, I wasnâÂÂt really sure I would like this book, and it took me the first couple of chapters to really get into it, but then I just couldnâÂÂt put it down! I am really glad I chose this book to review, because I very, very much enjoyed it. This is my first Karyn Henley book, and IâÂÂm looking forward to reading others by her! I would definitely recommend this book.
I received this book free from the publisher in return for an honest review. My own truthful opinion is expressed here! ïÂÂ

Breath of Angel by Karyn Henley was an interesting mix of angels and humans, shape shifters and sylvans. This book grabs you right away and doesnâÂÂt let go. It was highly suspenseful and intriging. After witnessing a murder, the main character, Malaia, is pulled from her safe little bubble of teaching into a world where two immortal brothers are fighting after an incedent with a tree and some angels. The Sairway to Heaven was destroyed and Malaia is the only one who can restore it.
This book was an interesting read. I coulnâÂÂt put it down. IâÂÂm ordering the next one right away.
I got this book free from Blogging for Books for this review.
