Editorial Reviews

4-1/2 Star Review! "No one writes a pirate story better than Christy Award finalist Tyndall! This romantic action-packed adventure illustrates the healing, redemptive power of God''s grace while still offering readers the excitement they crave."

The Blue Enchantress is a captivating tale of love, forgiveness, acceptance, personal and spiritual growth, and learning to yield to the Masters will. M.L. Tyndall breathes such life into her characters that the reader is reluctant to bid them farewell on the last page. This second installment in the Charles Town Belles series is chock full of laughter and tears, sin and redemption, love and its seedier counterpart. The Blue Enchantress is a pirates chest of literary treasure more than worth the voyage!

Marylu Tyndalls THE BLUE ENCHANTRESS would make an excellent Hallmark movie. With a superb plot, riveting characters, high action drama, this book overflows with all the elements that romance readers crave. This is the second book in the CHARLES TOWNE BELLES series, but it is strong enough to stand alone on its own. Very highly recommended.

Love and Piracy on the High Seas! At Last! A historical romance writer who gives new meaning to the term, “shiver me timbers” with a pirate tale that will sail away with your heart! As an avid romance reader/writer, I have been searching the Inspy market high and low, bow to stern, for romance with an edge, and I am thrilled to say that I’ve struck a pirate’s ransom in gold with author MaryLu Tyndall. From intriguing heart-and-soul characters, swashbuckling adventure and heart-fluttering romance that will put a gust of wind in your sails, Ms. Tyndall’s latest novel, The Blue Enchantress, is a treasure trove of inspiration and fun. In fact, The Blue Enchantress (my first MaryLu Tyndall book, but definitely not my last) is SO good, that I quickly got my hands on the first book in this series, The Red Siren, and am now anxiously awaiting the arrival of book 3, The Raven Saint. For love and adventure on the high seas, nobody does it better. Bravo, MaryLu—you’ve got a fan for life!

Hope Westcott has a lifetime of bad choices under her dainty little belt. The most recent one—an affair with a married man—lands her on an auction block to be sold into slavery. Captain Nathaniel Mason is running from God’s call to the ministry. He is determinedly building a shipping business, ensuring himself a lifetime of security, which he mistakenly believes wealth can buy. His weakness is a secret love for the vain and frivolous Hope Westcott. When he sees her on the auction block, his love demands he sacrifice his ship and its cargo to save her. Nathaniel has every intention of returning his lovely new possession to her home in Chares Towne, but God uses stormy seas, shipwreck, illness, and pirates to waylay the headstrong couple until they see things His way. The Blue Enchantress is a captivating tale of love, forgiveness, acceptance, personal and spiritual growth, and learning to yield to the Master’s will. M.L. Tyndall breathes such life into her characters that the reader is reluctant to bid them farewell on the last page. This second installment in the Charles Town Belles series is chock full of laughter and tears, sin and redemption, love and its seedier counterpart. The Blue Enchantress is a pirate’s chest of literary treasure … more than worth the voyage!

The Blue Enchantress is another excellent story from M. L. Tyndall. I have read all of this author's books to date. This story contains the typical Tyndall fire that all good romances must possess for me to thoroughly enjoy them. The kisses are just scorching enough (for a Christian romance novel) to make the reader breathless. The back and forth tug of war between the characters and the misunderstandings was also very well done. I particularly enjoyed the character arc with Hope and how much she grew through her suffering. I loved how she had to learn to forgive herself and allow God to unconditionally love her. Isn't it true that before we can love ourselves or unselfishly love someone else, we must fully understand God's unconditional love for us? That was SO well done. The tension was just right, too. Overall the pacing was good, but there was a small slow spot in the middle. I can't recall where that was, but it didn't last long and I plowed right through to the end. I am looking forward to the third installment in this series. I can't get enough of this author's books and the adventures her characters have as they travel across the seas. I highly recommend this story to people who love books with romantic tension and a strong spiritual element.

Wow! There's never a dull moment in this pirate story! M.L. Tyndall is an amazing writer who captures a reader with all five senses. I loved this book even more than I had the previous one, and will definitely look forward to more books in the Charles Town Belle Series.

In book two of the Charlestown Belles Series, M.L. Tyndall has once again taken her readers into the world of seas, pirates, intrigue, lovable heroes, and hateful villains. Open the pages of one of her novels and you can feel the sea breeze, smell the saltwater, and hear the clinking of sword play. Hope Westcott has never felt worthy of love. While she tried to play the dutiful daughter, her romantic soul sought to be cherished. Thinking her fairy tale would come true; she snuck onto the ship belonging to her beloved, Lord Falkland. However, Hope rapidly finds the man she thought loved her is treacherous. As she stands on the auction block being sold as a slave, she realizes her mistakes have ruined her life. Nathaniel Mason has been in love with Hope from the sidelines for years. Will he be able to sacrifice his hard-earned livelihood to save her? Both Hope and Nathaniel run from a painful past, an unsure faith in the God they've been taught loaves them. Is there a future out of the pains of their lives? If you haven't read book one in this series, The Red Siren, I do recommend it. However, each of MaryLu's books stand alone as a great story. MaryLu's skill as a story teller is flawless. Her ability to transport the reader in time and place is astounding. And the sublte way she weaves faith into the lives of her characters causing them to accept their destiny also causes the reader to search inside her own faith journey. Clear your calendar, for when you open the book you won't want to stop until the last page. I highly recommend this book.

Oh. My. Goodness. I loved it! M.L. Tyndall has an amazing way of writing. She can write a suspenseful scene like no one else. Here is an example: “The maelstrom outside the tiny glass oval writhed in an undulating vision of raging black clouds one second and a hissing caldron of white-capped water the next.” I even became shaky during the hurricane! Tyndall draws you in, so that you are on the edge of your seat. She will make you laugh, cry, and never want to put the book down. Hope Westcott is a character that I think every woman can relate to. Broken by life, only valuing her outward appearance, she searches for love in all the wrong places. Tyndall has a way of putting you in the character’s shoes, and she makes the story come alive in a way that most authors never achieve. There was only one thing that I didn’t like and that is on the back cover. It says, “…God’s call on his life to become an impoverished pastor.” That is not true. God doesn’t want us to be impoverished. In the Bible it says that God wants us to be healthy and prosperous. However, in the book it is not said that he is called to be an impoverished pastor. It only says that he is poor now, and he will start out being a poor pastor, not that he must be, or is called to be, poor. I think this was a simple mistake in the writing of the back cover, as it is not portrayed that way in the book. I definite to-read!
