Attempting to forget about a painful past, Hope Westcott plunges into Charles Towne society trying to find love and acceptance. Captain Nathaniel Mason is determined to build his shipping business and doesn’t need a romantic entanglement—especially with a woman like Hope. When Hope’s adventure-seeking puts her freedom—and her life—in jeopardy, will Nathaniel turn his back or follow God’s voice and sacrifice everything to save her? ChristianBookPreviewsThe Blue Enchantress by M. L. Tyndall weaves themes of love and forgiveness through the story of Nathaniel Mason and Hope Westcott. In the beginning scene, Hope, the daughter of an admiral, finds herself on an auction block through of a series of circumstances that include an illicit affair (nothing is described in detail). Nathaniel, who knows Hope and has been attracted to her for some time, watches from the crowd and struggles with his conscience over whether to step in and save her or not. The results of his decision launch a story of deceit, guilt, trust, forgiveness, and renewed hope.
Tyndall does an admirable job with character development and plot pacing in this book. Each character is a well-rounded, believable person with whom readers can immediately identify. The action of the plot launches in the first chapter, doesnt let up until the last page, and includes twists that will keep readers interested. Readers will reach the end and wait in anticipation for the next installment in the series. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I began it expecting another predictable romance but found an intriguing, well-written tale that kept me guessing. Tyndalls graphic descriptive comparison of a storm at sea as a living monster was especially memorable. The theme developed through Nathaniels resistance against the call of God is compelling, but even more arresting is Hopes desire to reform her life and win her struggle against her sinful nature. The manner in which this conflict is resolved reminds me of 2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! This book is a good choice for anyone who loves historical romances. Ruth Anne Burrell, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com Editorial Reviews4-1/2 Star Review! "No one writes a pirate story better than Christy Award finalist Tyndall! This romantic action-packed adventure illustrates the healing, redemptive power of God''s grace while still offering readers the excitement they crave." The Blue Enchantress is a captivating tale of love, forgiveness, acceptance, personal and spiritual growth, and learning to yield to the Master’s will. M.L. Tyndall breathes such life into her characters that the reader is reluctant to bid them farewell on the last page. This second installment in the Charles Town Belles series is chock full of laughter and tears, sin and redemption, love and its seedier counterpart. The Blue Enchantress is a pirate’s chest of literary treasure … more than worth the voyage!
Marylu Tyndall’s THE BLUE ENCHANTRESS would make an excellent Hallmark movie. With a superb plot, riveting characters, high action drama, this book overflows with all the elements that romance readers crave. This is the second book in the CHARLES TOWNE BELLES series, but it is strong enough to stand alone on its own. Very highly recommended.
