Blind Trust is another exciting suspense in the Port Aster Secrets series. It is book two and picks up fairly close to where book one ends. It can be read as a stand alone, but will make so much more sense if you read Deadly Devotion first.
The author kept me guessing through most of the book and certainly adds in many twists and turns. It is hard for Kate Adams to know who to trust. She is a character who wants to think the best of everyone, but is learning throughout this series that people are not always who they seem to be. Sometimes she makes decisions that seem nave and ends up in trouble. Thankfully she has a handsome detective in love with her. He willingly comes to her rescue! Blind Trust was another enjoyable addition to the series.
Just a little heads up to readers who do not like cliff hangers
These books do tie up a part of each mystery, but there is an overall thread to the story that flows from one book to the next. This would have bothered me some if I couldnt move straight through each story. But, since I did, it has been very nice to have these books so closely linked.
It was great getting back to Kate Adams and Tom Parker. I loved getting to know them in the first book in this series. Their story continues in this book. This is a series that you HAVE to read in order for it to make sense.
Many of the secondary characters that are also introduced in book 1 reappear in this book. There are a few new characters that we meet in this novel though. I really enjoy the details that Sandra Orchard gives about her characters. It is very easy to think of them as flesh-and-blood people rather than fictional characters. There are a variety of personalities and quirks included in the cast of this book.
As this story progresses there are glances back to the first book and the danger that Kate was in during that story. The question comes up briefly as to whether this new mystery and danger are actually connected to that story or just a coincidence. At the same time there were some questions that came up during the first novel, but not resolved, that resurface and more information about them is revealed.
It is a wonderfully well written story and drew me in so thoroughly that I finished it in 2 days. I am looking forward to reading book 3 and finding out how everything is resolved. Hopefully Kate and Tom will get their happily-ever-after.
In her second book in the Port Aster Secrets series, author Sandra Orchard picks up the story of Kate Adams and Tom Parker as GPC Pharmaceuticals continues its efforts to set up operations in Port Aster and crime seems to be on the rise. The story takes numerous twists and turns as the suspense intensifies. At one point Tom tells Kate she is too trusting. Its quite interesting that she says she trusts everyone except police officers but she is constantly jumping to confusions about the various other characters in the story. If not for God and a certain police officer, I dont know how she can survive. She has quite an imagination and can quickly see clues that make the next person appear guilty. I enjoyed the action and suspense. But I shook my head more than once when Tom told Kate to stay in a particular spot and almost immediately she was right on his heels or she was charging off somewhere else to try to get ahead of the bad guys. I think I would have had to lock her up somewhere for both her safety and my own. How is a police detective supposed to work with the distraction of a beautiful woman like her? That doesnt even take into account the fact she is frequently getting into jams because of her impetuousness. Theres a touch of romance in the book but also a lot of action. I recommend the book.
Blind Trust is a really great read. This is the first book I have read of the series. I hope to go back to read the others of the series. I love the action, mystery, suspense, characters, and the cliffhanger at the end. Great book!
