In first story The Holiday Husband by Annie Jones, we meet Addie as she enters a department story to apply for a job. It is interesting the way she finds Nathan and Jesse and is drawn into their lives. The owners of the store don't want to hire her but she convinces them she would be worth hiring and Nathan ends up staying to help too. One of the things neat about this story is a boy named Jesse who's parents are too wrapped up in their own lives to care about him. So much of this does happen today. The Grandparents become responsible for him. The store front display, Addie's Mom overdoing the holiday decorations and all will keep you reading on and on. You will laugh, smile and truly find the Christmas spirit a delight. I like how God rearranges lives to bring his plan into being. In The Christmas Letter a 12 year old Lizzie writes to a soldier at Christmas. Soon she is writing him like it is her Mother, Isabella, and Chad, the soldier, falls for this woman he has never met. Things get mixed up when he arrives to find the woman he thinks he has been writing too. But God uses things and people to bring two people together (as I well know in my own life). I loved the rural setting and the small town and it was like I was reading about the town I live in. You will read this book in one or two sittings at most. It will lift your holiday spirits. Both are great books.
