I purchased this book for myself and a friend who has a child with Autism. She was able to relate to the author's experience, got strength, hope and drew closer to God. I was able to get insight and a broader perspective of those with special needs. This book offers an appendix of additional resources for support which I found impressive.

I have a 3.5 year old daughter with autism. When we were going through the evaluation process, I needed to be reminded that God has no waiting list, no list of accepted insurances, or co-pays AND that unlike all of the professionals, He's not guessing about what my child can do or might be capable of. He already KNOWS what she is capable of, what she needs, and what He is preparing her to do with this life she has been given. This book has helped me as I have learned to trust God more!

My 4 1/2 year old son is autistic and after reading this book, I have a new found strength (through Christ) to serve the Lord better and have more faith. This book holds true to it's title. It is full of wonderful blessings.

Q: Does this book provide ideas for how the church can minister to autistic children and their families? I am pondering the possibility of putting together a task force - to prepare our church for ministry to such families, although we do not have any severe cases currently, and I would love to know what these families could use for support, especially during Sunday school and worship time.

A:

This book is a great resource to better understand the needs of families with autism. It doesn't specifically address Sunday services, but in general it would definitely give you a better sense of what these families could use for support.
