Debbie Morris recognized her need for a mentor to walk alongside her, love her, and show her where she needed to go. Realizing she didn't have any women in her life to fill that role, she did what came naturally to her: she turned to Scripture. Debbie had long been fascinated by Bible characters and their stories, so women like Eve, Mary, Sarah, Miriam, and Zipporah became like friends, sisters, and teachers. Through their stories, the Holy Spirit revealed lesson after lesson of becoming a grace-filled, life-giving woman of God. In The Blessed Woman, Debbie imparts what she has learned, by transparently sharing her doubts, struggles, and personal stories, and how those lessons apply to all women in everyday life and in ministry. Bible Study Included.

Its not easy being a woman. The demands and expectations of us, and those we place on ourselves, can be overwhelming. While trying to navigate this thing called "life," have you ever longed for a close friend, confidant, or mentor to walk alongside you and encourage you in Biblical womanhood? Debbie Morris did. And yet even as a young ministers wife, she found herself without someone to fill this all-important role. So she turned to the Bible. Biblical women such as Eve, Sarah, and Miriam had always fascinated her. But now they also became her friends, sisters, and teachers. Through their stories, the Holy Spirit revealed how their livesboth joys and struggleswerent that much different from ours today and how they can teach women today to be a grace-filled, life-giving woman of God.
In The Blessed Woman, Debbie invites you to learn from these women as well. As she shares her own stories and the stories of discerning women in the Bible, she addresses topics such as overcoming insecurity, finding purpose, establishing priorities, letting go, and waiting. The Blessed Woman reminds us how God longs for every woman to experience His tendernessand to know the true meaning of being blessed.

"One of my favorite people has now written one of my favorite new books. In The Blessed Woman, the beautiful Debbie Morris writes candidly and beautifully of her spiritual journey of victory over insecurity and timidity. Along the way she points us to the stories of other remarkable women of faithchallenging and inspiring us as daughters of the King to live lives of meaning, purpose and power. This book is a rare gift."
Kari Jobe, two-time Dove Award winner

Lisa Bevere, best-selling author & speaker, co-founder of Messenger International
"Debbie pens this book from her beautiful heart. It overflows with love and grace, seeking to refresh and strengthen every woman who reads its pages. This book is a tool to teach, mentor and cheer you on to being all God made you to be. In Debbie's words 'being a woman isn't always easy...' but the wisdom in these pages will definitely make it easier. Thank you, Debbie, for giving freely wisdom that cost you everything."
Charlotte Gambill, pastor/speaker
"Debbies insights on molding and mentoring Gods rough and unpolished daughters provide inspiring hope for the hopeless. Theres an immediate identification with Gods powerful, feminine mentors of the Bible when we realize Gods hearts desire is to use each of us in a very significant way. As Debbie says, we dont realize that our mistakes, weaknesses and lack that we think would cause Gods opportunities to pass us by, actually make us the perfect candidates for His purposes. Truly God is looking for daughters through whom He can show Himself strong and mightyyou and me. Although were not qualified in the natural to do what Hes asking, He is more than ready to equip and empower us to fulfill His passionate vision for each of us. Our deficiencies are Gods opportunity to be God of the impossible."
Ginger Lindsay, COO, Christ for Nations
"The Blessed Woman" is written with an authentic grace-filled charm that speaks to the heart of every woman at each stage of her life. The book's transparency and vulnerability draws the reader in by chronicling the lives of the author and the incredible women of the Bible, making them relatable and real to us. Pastor Debbie unearths their human frailties, fears and shortcomings, and ultimately their manifested faith and reliance on God, taking them from the conception of their purpose to the birthing of God's vision through them...just like He wants to do with each of us, transforming the ordinary to extraordinary."
Lori Ann Biggers, speaker

In her book The Blessed Woman, Debbie Morris helps us all to see some of the amazing women in the Bible as mentors. Debbie is transparent and honest as she uses her own journey and Bible truths to guide us in our daily life. I know this book will be a huge encouragement for so many!!! So get one for you, and all those women in your world!"
Holly Wagner, pastor at Oasis Church, author GodChicks, WarriorChicks, Daily Steps for GodChicks
"Debbie Morris The Blessed Woman is a breath of fresh airand one that will re-fresh every person who reads it, irrespective of gender. Though essentially geared to women, any perceptive reader who loves the Word will be happily surprised at how Debbie is, all at once, both "plain and simple" and "powerfully prophetic!" The content flows from the heart of a pastors wife who relates with an enjoyable yet transformational "edge" to her writingtaking the "every day" and turning it into "the stuff of eternity." This journey offers a pungent study of women in the Bible that will build confidence, grow faith and lead to practical, purposeful living and ministry."
Pastor Jack Hayford, chancellor of The Kings University
"Debbie Morris writes with the heart of a true pastors wife; I know because shes my pastors wife and my friend. Ive watched her grow into the role and what a mighty woman of God she is! In this book, shes transparent and human in a way we can all relate to, inspiring us to step into our own calling and purpose that God has for us. She writes about the dream God birthed inside her to empower women to follow God and how, despite her insecurities, God helped her deliver that dream. Youll feel like youve stepped into her shoes and the shoes of many women in the Bible as Debbie takes you on this journey, sharing personal stories and Biblical stories. Every woman seeking Gods blessing should read this book."
"I love the heart and soul of Debbie. Not only is she an amazing woman of God, she is also a friend! Her passion and commitment to women is inspiring and captured so well in her new book, The Blessed Woman. Debbie conveys a clear vision of empowering seasoned Christian women to become the mentors that God created them to be, as well as redefining femininity. I'm excited to see how her book inspires women to be leaders they are destined to be!"
"Pastor Debbie is one of the humblest and gentlest women I have met. These character traits peg her as a true leader and as such, anything she has to say or write is something I would listen to and take to heart. Debbies book will help all of us not only believe in ourselves, but also step into our roles as women to do the things only women can do."
Dr. Caroline Leaf, neuroscientist and author
"Debbie Morris has begun the conversation that every Christian woman needs to have. Reading her book I see now how Debbie is so genuinely herself no matter who she is around. She has let the women of God's Word truly mentor and shape her soul and in this book she shows how you can do the same. With mentors like these it is easy to be more shaped by God, and less driven by fear of people. Read it. Then have your daughters read it!"

We are settling into a new church and I don't have frequent contact with my role models and my friends from our former church... so Debbie's suggestion to turn to the Bible for mentors couldn't have come at a better time. I appreciated her frequently including the Bible passages discussed - it just bugs me to be knee deep in reading and realize that to understand the next paragraph, I need to look up the passage in the Bible! Not that I mind reading my Bible, but if your Bible isn't right beside you, you have to go get it... mark your place in the book, find the place in the Bible, read it and then go back to the book. I think that is just a little distracting! When a writer puts the passage right there for me to refer to, life is easier!
I enjoyed Debbie Morris' transparency. She shared experiences from her life freely - both times she was successful and times of doubt and failure. She pulled many characteristics from the Bible characters and applied what their lives demonstrated to our lives today. One of my favorite chapters was on submission which is NOT my favorite thing to do. She began with Edith Bunker, as an example of what we think of as submission... and quickly led into Queen Vashti who chose not to submit to King Ahasuerus and then Esther who did choose to submit.
As I continue to study Biblical characters, I will remember illustrations from this book and am eager to pass it on to a friend. It would make a great small group study for a group of women. The study guide in the back goes beyond a few questions to answer.
This book was given to me by Waterbrook/Multnomah but my review is my own personal opinion.

Debbie brings the good and bad of these women to the reader to show that the things we're going through right now were not unlike those of the women in the Bible stories we read. Plain, simple and practical similarities between me and Eve, Mary, Naomi, Zipporah and Esther?! Who would have thought? But Debbie does a fantastic job of pulling us all together for the ultimate end result: to know God's tenderness and to be fully blessed!

Like the author, I didn't really have any mentors in my life that I could aspire too, and even today I cannot say that I do. This book brought back to me the women in the bible that we can learn from: their victories and mistakes, challenges and struggles. Rereading their stories through the author's words brought refreshing hope and encouragement in how to be a grace-filled woman. We are blessed far beyond what we realize sometimes! I can heartily recommend this book; it fits to all age categories and walks of the Christian life.

From page 1 to the end - I felt like I was growing closer to God with each page. In fact I used it as part of my devotional each day. When I finished the book, I was wishing there was more to read. I love it when I get sad that a book is ending.
Debbie Morris, the executive pastor of women's ministry at Gateway Church in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, writes this book with such insight into the Word of God and such wonderful application. It is fun to hear her stories and feel like you are not alone.
She takes us through the lives of some well known women of the Bible, like: Eve, Mary, Esther and through some not so known women, like: Jael and Zipporah. She gives fresh new insight, without straying from the true Word of God. After you read about each woman, you feel like you know them better, understand yourself better, and know the heart and nature of God better, too.

The author uses each biblical character as a mentor to guide her readers and give them wisdom in their Christian walk. She addresses topics such as insecurity, finding purpose, establishing priorities, letting go, and waiting. She also tells stories of her own life and how these biblical characters have helped to shape her outlook.
I enjoyed this book because she looked at several biblical characters that aren't studied as much such as Jael, Hagar, Zipporah, Miriam, etc. I always enjoy learning about biblical characters and looking at any wisdom I might glean from their timeless stories. This book takes an in depth look at many of the women in the bible and I would recommend it to anyone looking to learn more about these characters and how their stories might apply to their own modern day lives.
