BJU has got it right with this one! My son was having issues with writing and after three different curriculums a friend recommended this one. It has been a complete miracle! We absolutely love it. We do a lesson in grammar and another in writing everyday. He is up to speed and doing his work everyday.
First year homeschooling my daughter who struggled in English and Writing and this curriculum has pushed her above and beyond and she loves it! It is intriguing and the teacher's manual is set up so you can completely understand what and how you are supposed to be teaching the information. It has been great and we will continue next year with the BJU English 4 and BJU English 5 for my older daughter. T=
Once again BJU has hit one out of the park! This Curriculum makes LA enjoyable for student and teacher alike. The lessons are short, concise and well thought out. EACH grammar lesson has a topic - such as farming, our Nations Capital, even BASEBALL! The child gets interesting facts about the topic while learning grammar. Writing lessons are interjected so as to give the student (and the teacher) a "break" from the monotony that is L.A. My daughter came into this year very discoraged about this subject and nearly UNABLE to complete a writing assignment. (She would FREEZE.) Half-way through this book she has gained confidance and is writing with much more ease. She is grasping grammar and even looks foward to her "extra handouts" that come on the disk. GREAT WORK BJUPRESS! Thanks CBD!
I LOVE this English curriculum. The units alternate between grammar and writing assignments. There are examples of what the completed writing assignment should look like so you know if your child is on track or not. They give you ample time (5 days, one day for each step of the writing process) and instructions to complete each step of the writing assignment. There is also a writing rubric to help you grade it once it's done. All in all, it's a great curriculum...one I wish I had tried years ago when my son was younger and hated writing.
