I think for our purposes we will use the songs for jr choir rather that a play. We would like a bit more direction. The book is verey nice and there are reproduceable games in the back fun for childrens church activities in the Christmas season

I directed "The Birthday of the King" this last Christmas. I had Kindergarten and 1st graders be the animals and I divided the narrator parts up and gave the 2nd graders-6th graders lines. Everyone sang the songs.

The music is great. My kids are still singing the songs.

At the end, instead of making hearts with John 3:16 written on them and handing them out to the congregation we made a large poster that we held up at the end with the verse typed out. The cast and congregation said the verse together. The hearts is a nice idea, but we didn't have that time or supplies to make 200+ hearts. The banner worked fine.

If you are looking for an entertaining show for K-6th graders that is not too much trouble to put together, this is the show I highly recommend!

My first time working with a children's musical! What an adventure!! This musical gave me everything I needed for the program to be successful...I loved that I could actually preview the songs before I bought it. Already planning for next year....but I don't like not being able to hear some of the songs on other musicals... I think that's important.
