With almost 200 stories, this book is an excellent resource for children and families to grow together in their faith and knowledge of Catholic tradition. It uses selections from the actual text of the highly respected and readable New Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition, including stories from the Deuterocanonical Books.
Along with stories from actual Bible text, My Big Book of Catholic Bible Stories includes additional elements. Each of these elements will help encourage the child to talk to God, to understand the meaning of new words from the passage, to learn quotes from saints and other important figures, and to go deeper in their faith by cross-referencing the CCC and applying the lesson to their lives. With its thorough teaching of Catholic faith, Bible stories, and classic art, this Bible Storybook will be a welcome addition to Catholic homes, schools, and churches.

Tell us a little about yourself. Raised in the Evangelical tradition, I became Catholic when I was 30. This book combines the best of both worlds, integrating my love for the Scriptures with my deep appreciation for the rich treasury of wisdom contained in two thousand years of Church history. As a foster-adoptive mother of two, ages 8 and 10, I found that compiling this book gave me a wonderful opportunity to share my faith journey with my kids ... and I hope my readers will, too!
What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted to create a product that families could share -- and learn from -- together. Children will enjoy the bright pictures and short stories, while adults will find themselves challenged to "go deeper," exploring for themselves the layers of truth that are there for the taking. Online sources linked to my blog (Extraordinary Moms Network) will enhance the study experience.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope they will use this book as a springboard for cultivating a deeper family prayer life, discovering for themselves what wonderful things can happen in the lives of families that spend a little time each day in the presence of the Lord.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? This project gave me an opportunity to dig into the history and culture of the saints of the Bible -- great men and women of faith who, though they sometimes made mistakes, did their best to love and serve God with all their heart, mind, and strength. I could relate to that!
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Amy Carmichael, Scott Hahn, and the audio-visual historical narratives of Steven and Janet Ray. Through this project I also came to a greater appreciation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, how it seemlessly integrates Scripture and other (less authoritative) sources to create a comprehensive, systematic synthesis of the "faith of our fathers."
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Additional online resources are available through my blog "Extraordinary Moms Network."
