Biblical Pattern for Divine Healing
A Bit Disappointing
If you want to learn or teach others how to tap in to divine healing today, this book is not for you. This book is for people who believe that divine healing âÂÂceased with the apostolic age,â as the writer puts it. Richard Mayhue does not believe that healing is for today. As far as he is concerned, the Biblical pattern for divine healing is PAST TENSE. Everything he presents is from this perspective, reason why he also states that outbursts of healing as in the days of Christ âÂÂhas never been repeated.â While there is some useful information in portions of this booklet, those of you who are part of ministries where healing is a regular occurrence will not learn very much from this booklet. Nevertheless, it is a very nice list of scriptures categorized according to the author's perspective that you can always reorganize. For example, I found it interesting that under the category âÂÂMedicine Approvedâ the verse referenced is 1 Tim 5:23 which talks about wine mixed with water. I understand that in ancient times people used natural health remedies and considered them medicine, so, as far as I'm concerned, wine mixed with water would be considered today a âÂÂhome remedyâ or a âÂÂnatural alternative,â but definitely not pharmaceutical medication as known today. So, I would categorize things differently. The writer also does not always make good distinctions, e.g., between âÂÂafflictionâ and âÂÂdisease.â He considers "affliction" to be a synonym for "disease." Not according to Greek or Hebrew. Still, there's a nice list that you can reorganize according to your knowledge of Hebrew, Greek, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
For those of you who do want to learn or explore what the Bible says about healing, I highly recommend the mini-booklets: (1) One Hundred Divine Healing Facts by T.L. Osborn, (2) Healed: God's Promises to Heal You by Bill Scheer, and (3) Confession Brings Possession by Norvel Hayes.
