Basics of Biblical Hebrew Video Lectures provides 36 easy-to-follow lessons (6 DVDs) introducing the grammar and language of the Hebrew Bible. Integrated for use with todays bestselling Hebrew text, it is an ideal resource for traditional students in need of additional instruction; for professors, who can now utilize precious classroom time for discussion and exercisesand have students watch lectures at home; and for self-learners and homeschoolers with an interest in learning Hebrew on their own.
Each lesson is approximately half an hour and is taught by experienced teacher Miles V. Van Pelt using a logical and simple method of learning biblical Hebrew, an approach hes refined over more than 20 years of studying and instructing students in biblical languages. Focused on the structural pattern of biblical Hebrew instead of tedious memorization, each video session will give students in formal language classes and self-learners alike the basic understanding they need to begin studying the Hebrew Scriptures.
Miles Van Pelt (PhD, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is the Alan Belcher Professor of Old Testament and Biblical Languages at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, where he also serves as Academic Dean. At first I was annoyed that I was being required to spend additional money for "books," but I have changed my mind, since I've found them helpful. The speaker talks fast and doesn't show much personality, but he does give little tips and hints that either aren't in the text or aren't emphasized the same way. I am now glad they are required. AND they were CONSIDERABLY less costly through Christianbook.com than through other online bookstores.
