Tell us a little about yourself. I have worked as a church planter-Bible translator with the Tabare-Sinasina People of Papua New Guinea for thirty years. I have taught Bible translation at two schools, one for two years and one for twenty five years
What was your motivation behind this project? I want to help Bible translators solve some the problems they most certainly will face when they translate Scripture into another language. I also want to motivate some missionaries who are reluctant to do Bible translating.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? A greater understanding in what is envolved in translating the Sriptures. There are many confused questions about Bible translating. I hope to bring some light that will help clear up some wrong thinking about translating Scripture.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? It has helped me in my own translating of the Sinasina New Testament and some books of the Old Testament. It has helped me learn to be a more accurate communicator. It has helped me to be a more accurate interpreter of Scripture.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? William A. Smalley, Benjamin B. Warfield, Eugene A. Nida, John Gill, Charles H. Spurgeon, the King James Version, John Beekman, Greasham Machen, Robert Delney, Robertson McQuilken, Wilbur N. Pickering, A.T. Robertson, Trinitarian Bible Society, Bearing Precious Seed, Donald M. Fraser, Baptist Bible Translators Institute, George Anderson.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I think a careful reading of Biblical Bible Translating will help pastors and missionaries to be better exegetes of Scipture.
