Publisher's Description

Change your life from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:20.

With the immediacy of Internet searches and ease of handheld devices, the custom of memorizing Scripture may not seem necessary, but best-selling author Robert J. Morgan makes an airtight case for reviving this rewarding practice in 100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart.

"It's vital for mental and emotional health and for spiritual well-being," he writes. "It's as powerful as acorns dropping into furrows in the forest. It allows God's words to sink into your brain and permeate your subconscious thoughts. It saturates the personality, satiates the soul, and stockpiles the mind. It changes the atmosphere of every family and alters the weather forecast of every day."

In a series of brief opening chapters, Morgan prepares us for this new old way of thinking and then presents his experienced list of 100 crucial verses, providing sidebar notes, quotes, and memorization tips for each. Extra pages are included to add your favorite verses, extending this life-changing exercise and memorization habit.

"Rob Morgan never disappoints me. His books do what a good book should do: make you think about life from a new and fresh perspective."

David Jeremiah, New York Times best-selling author

In 100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart, Robert Morgan collects dozens of the best-known and most applicable scriptures into an insightful and easily-accessible primer for memorization. Each verse is followed by a short essay giving additional insight into the verse or tips for memorization.

The first part of the book deals with the reasons for memorizing Bible verses. The author encourages mature Christians to learn verses so that the lines of Scripture will be a more integral part of the believer's life. He also lists several benefits of Scripture memorization, including healthier emotions and clearer thought processes.

The verses are sorted into different categories, dealing with different topics important to Christians. Some topics include promises made to believers, commands we are to follow, and verses dealing with prayer, joy, and faith. The Romans Road (a series of verses from the book of Romans that explain salvation) and the 23rd Psalm are also featured.

Morgan's essays cover a lot of ground. Some tell stories about Christians who have been impacted by the verse being discussed or personal examples from the author's life. Others give a word-by-word analysis of the verse, drawing out a new depth of meaning. At the end of each verse are quotes from theologians, philosophers, and hymn-writers pertinent to that verse.

The author has a good selection of verses for this collection, hitting many must-know scriptures, as well as some that might not jump immediately to mind. The book could be a good daily devotion tool, reading one verse a day and meditating on it. Whatever way you choose to use it, you will find yourself encouraged by bringing more Scripture into your life. – Nathan Biberdorf, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
