This book is an absolutely delightful collection of scholarly essays focusing on the Dead Sea Scrolls. It manages to take a middle of the road approach, staying away from sensationally "conservative" or "liberal" conclusions. Not all essays espouse the same viewpoint (especially in volume one, there is considerable disagreement concerning date of canon). This keeps dialogue fair and open. As one with no formal training in the languages of the scrolls, I was still able to glean much from the essays contained in these three volumes. That being said, not all essays were the most exciting to read, but this work was not written for purely entertainment purposes. The less pertinent essays can be skipped over without feeling too bad.

For anyone with a deep interest in the scrolls, I heartily recommend this work.
