Publisher's Description

The Bible Knowledge Commentary (Old Testament) and The Bible Knowledge Commentary (New Testament)

Help from expert scholars in understanding the Scriptures!

• What does that verse mean?
• How should I interpret this passage?
• What is the significance of this word or phrase in Greek or Hebrew?
• How do Bible-time customs help me understand the meaning of this passage?
• How can this alleged contradiction be explained?
• How does the information on the author, historical background, and features of a Bible book help interpret that book?

The Bible Knowledge Commentary answers these and other questions about the Scriptures, discussing all the Bible verse by verse and often phrase by phrase. In addition, maps, charts, and diagrams help you grasp the meanings of the biblical text. Unlike most others this commentary is by authors from one school—Dallas Theological Seminary. The Bible Knowledge Commentary—popular in style and scholarly in content—will deepen your understanding of God's written Word.

The Bible Knowledge Commentary will be welcomed by a wide spectrum of Bible students, form the beginner, who will find it easy to understand and easy to use, to the advanced, who will find it consistently thorough and reliable. The readable style, combined with careful scholarship, make this a Bible study aid I and others will add to our "most-used" shelf of books.

This set of commentaries is most useful when you want to compare what the Holy Spirit has revealed to you as opposed to Walvoord and Zuck's extensive knowledge and insight of His word. Very highly recommend this commentary.

Have many many commentaries. These are my first ones to reference (besides Ryrie notes) and then J. Vernon McGee's. BKC are straight to the point without a lot of extra verbage.

The times we've referenced this set of commentaries, we've been very pleased with the information we've found.

easy to read, very interesting, had a peaceful feeling reading the commentaries, may sound strange, but true. could have gone more deeply into some subjects, but as a neophinte precepts student person, the explandations were quite sufficient. I have no doubts about God's word just need a bit of clarification sometimes. Thank you

Okay first of all this set was an awesome value. Second it came highly recomended. Third I have really enjoyed how clearly this is written for either a new beliver or serious seminary student. We are blessed at our church to have local seminary professors that are willing to teach a few of our Sunday school classes. My Sunday school teacher is one of those and suggested this commentary. This has been a great tool and I use it with all of my current studies or if I just have a question about a verse. The context of the scriptures is explained and why there are some verses that have believers divided on their meaning. This is my first commentary set and I highly recommend it.

I found the Bible Knowledge Commentary to be an exemplary addition to my library. As an Elder and ministry leader, this set has helped me grow in scriptural knowledge in a very non-technical style. Whether you are a senior Pastor or just beginning your Christian journey, I highly recommend this high quality commentary set.

I have never been disappointed when referring to my BKC set. We are active in a number of "Home Groups" and topics range is considerable - but BKC consistently provides us a truth perspective not evident in materials being covered directly. A useful tool indeed!
