I have had several study bibles but this one beats the rest by a long shot. I truly enjoy the commentaries and the introductions. I also enjoy the topics discussed such as the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It does't focus too much on them which is good. To me it really focuses and helps me grow in my relationship with God. I do wish it had more space to write my notes next to the verses but it just so good that it make it a small problem to deal with.
I've made donations to supply "Fire Bibles" for different countries for several years, and I had yet to acquire one for myself. I am a little biased of the NIV translation, so I've waited for something different to arise, so I grew excited when I found out it was now available in KJV; (I am a NKJV person though). Nonetheless, I've had it for a few weeks now and I love the articles and commentaries within it. This Bible holds a pentecostal orientation; it is really a combination of a reference, commentary, study Bible ... all wrapped up in one! I also love the theme chains that the Bible holds. The Bible is thick, yet the font size is large (about a size 14 or 15, a little on the narrow side), even for the commentaries. The article font size shrinks a little, but they are readable.
The downside of presenting the scriptures in paragraph form though, it makes it a little hard to find specific verse numbers; even though they are in bold. The other downside is ghost printing; like many recent printed Bibles, ghosting sometimes makes it a little hard to read some pages; not all. It is more of a challenge on the article pages; it is not so bad on the scripture/ commentary pages, because of the larger font size.
I also would like to note that there are some maps, which to me could have been updated, considering the Bible was printed just a few years ago.
I have found this Bible to be a great Pentecostal resource for studying the scriptures and bringing together a cohesiveness to specific themes in Pentecostal doctrine. I will be using this Bible as a reference resource.
In my opinion, this is one of the best study bibles out. KJV with references. The notes explain confusing passages. The author always tells the importance of studying the scriptures for yourself and doing what the Word says. The only drawback is I wish this bible came in leather. It is such a good bible, I am surprised that it comes in this cheap pink and blue pleather. The NIV (1984) edition does come in leather. But the font is smaller than the KJV. I own the KJV and my husband owns the NIV. They both have very bold ink. You won't need another bible.
This bible has excellent content, partic for us who believe one can lose their Salvation, with an emphasis on the Holiness of God. Attended SEU in 1986, worked as an engr briefly at NASA, been a Christian for over 50 yrs. Only fault of the bible is its readability, which needs a better typeset, used to have the Full-time Study Bible; relative works at TSC in NYC.
The KJV Fire Bible is a wonderful study Bible. I am very thankful that they produce this study Bible in King James Version (the most accurate Bible translation). The print is larger and much clearer than the Life in the Spirit Study Bible. Its paper quality is good, not much ghosting. I wish they have genuine leather cover on this Bible which is more durable. That's the reason I rate it 4 stars instead of 5 stars. I bought 2 of this Bible (1 for my husband and 1 for myself) and would like to buy more in the future when my children are older.
