We love this book! Although I was tempted to just skip the old testament book and go straight to the new testament book, I am very glad that we did start with the old testament. This is a great series. It covers countless bible stores. Bible stories we don't always pay attention to or teach our children. It works very diligently through the bible. We are half way through the book and are loving it. I can't believe how much I have learnen, myself! This book puts bible stories into easy to read to small children (my daughter was in her 4 1/2 - 5 year old year). After you read the story, it has a short prayer, questions, reviews a memory verse, and then has a song or something else extra. The songs are great - although, I very highly recommend that you purchase the cd "My First Hymnal." It will make the songs enjoyable. We use the songs as a break between bible and reading, and then again between reading and math. I downloaded the cd off of amazon.com for a reasonable price. This is a great tool to teach young children about the old testament. It reviews the important facts and embraces children's love for the Lord. We are looking forward to beginning 1st grade curriculum next year and continuing with this series - we will do the new testament for little listeners for her 1st grade curriculum. Highly recommend this!

I give this book two stars for the effort obviously put into writing and publishing it. It's spiral-bound and easy to use. It did not work for us because it felt too much like I was indoctrinating a little robot, rather than using God's Word to reach the heart of my little one. You read a segment, then ask the child (way too many) questions. This is not how I want to teach my kindergartener about the Bible. Thankfully while browsing this site I found a program called "Bible Study Guide for All Ages"...what a Godsend!

This is a great book! I read it to my 5 and 2 year old boys and its a great way to talk about God and the bible to children. Its interactive - my 5 year old is enraptured and answers questions, recites the bible versus, sings the songs and wants to continue with another lesson as soon as we finish. I save the lesson for the next day, but the excitement is wonderful! My two year old can also understand the simple wording and ideas and answer questions also. They both love the hymns that are included and we are ordering the cd as they want to hear and sing them over and over.
