Our Daily Bread writer Dave Branon never expected to have valleys on the topographical map of his life. Life wasn't perfect, but he and his family enjoyed God's blessings of love and contentment. Everything changed when Dave's seventeen-year-old daughter Melissa, was killed instantly in a car accident on her way home from a day at the lake with her friends.
Beyond the Valley grows out of Dave's journey of grief, and his desire to provide spiritual hope for the hurting. He writes honestly about the challenges he faced, and believes that, "Together, we can find hope, solace, comfort, and sometimes even joy--while seeking to go beyond the valley."

Dave Branon was the managing editor of the award-winning Christian magazine Sports Spectrum for 18 years, and is now an editor for Discovery House Publishers and RBC Ministries. Dave has written over 2,000 devotional articles and 14 books, including Heads Up and Undefeated. Dave and his wife, Sue, live in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
