IreneUnited States4 Stars Out Of 5March 2, 2011IreneUnited StatesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4You have not been given any trial or hardship that someone before you has not already endured. Look to the Lord to help guide you through each situation. The title, Beyond Me, describes this book perfectly. As you endure your hardships look around you and be aware of others who may be going through the same difficulty. Don't be afraid to share your story!
Reading this book will remind you of your purpose on earth. You will go through hardships and being open to helping others is your obligation. The Lord has not put us on this earth to live self-centered lives but to be a witness for him. By allowing our hearts to harden towards those in need, we lose our usefulness for the Lord.
Reading this book will also have you rethinking how you handle your trials. Do you call out to him or do you complain? How do you react when these trials are caused by someone else? Do you forgive or do you hold a grudge? Forgiving and sharing are not easy but with the Lord's help every believer can be an encouragement. This book has some great information for those who want to live beyond themselves.

Michelle SuttonArizonaAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5August 17, 2009Michelle SuttonArizonaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleThis book was good. It was pretty deep. Being non-fiction, it took me much longer to read that most books. However, it had some beautiful stories in it that illustrated the points that were being made. That was my favorite part of this book. This would be a great tool to facilitate discussion at a home Bible study or in a women's group.

The tip of that knife exposed my own tendency to lethargy and the sidetrack of "good things". What does God have in mind for me? Can I find the New Testament Jesus in today's trappings?Macias beckons from personal examples and meaty scripture," Search!" Dig hard for a relationship with God that is more than just a glance through a dusty rearview mirror. Let the principles of "Beyond Me" kindle the places in your soul that cry for fire. Two hundred pluls pages, places to jot ideas, and sidebars that hook you. I'll be hanging on to this book for a long time. But I'll share.

Lucy Neeley Adams5 Stars Out Of 5September 20, 2008Lucy Neeley AdamsThe day I became a Christian, I became thirsty for my Bible. I knew that was the growing place for my new faith. It did become the foundation for growth and through the years other books have shown brilliant light upon it's words and precepts. In a gentle but powerful way, a very special book, BEYOND ME by Kathi Macias provides deeper insights into familiar passages. It is gentle because Kathi stands beside the reader as one who also wants to live God's way. She becomes a fellow struggler as we desire to live a You -first life in a me-first world! Her writing also brings new insights to very familiar passages in the Bible. Heartfelt illustrations of family and friends are sprinkled throughout the pages so that I identify with the feelings of the author. Do not let another day go by before you purchase BEYOND ME and get excited about its' message.

Tell us a little about yourself. I've wanted to be a writer since I was a young child. I published my first book twenty years ago, and feel so blessed that God has granted me the desire of my heart.
What was your motivation behind this project? This is the "book of my heart." Unlike my other books, I worked on this one for many years. It contains much of the story of what God has done in my life since He first "ambushed" me in 1974, and I am so grateful to finally see it in print.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope readers will fall more deeply in love with the Father, who loves us scandalously and unreservedly--and calls us to do the same for others.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Throughout the book I was confronted with the dark places in my heart and life that I thought were gone--but weren't. The final chapter tells of the life-and-death trauma that brought it all into focus.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I have many, but I would have to say Brennan Manning and Henri Nouwan had the greatest impact on me throughout the writing of this book.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I want them to know that God has called us to the impossible--and has promised to enable us to fulfill that calling.
