God’s love can feel impersonal at times, but as we learn to let God love us by allowing Him to meet our needs, we see Him interacting with us in our specific circumstances. We start to recognize the ways that He demonstrates His love for us as individuals as we bring our needy hearts to Him through the lives of Bible characters like Paul, John, and Hosea’s Gomer. When we trust God and turn to Him for help, we can enjoy a two-way blessing: We feel like God’s favorite—His best friend—and we know that God feels loved by us.

Momsclubleader3 Stars Out Of 5Good Read, But Not So Good for Developing ServantsNovember 5, 2012MomsclubleaderAs the other reviewer mentioned, the author uses her imagination to recreate famous Bible stories as told from the other characters from the stories. This was interesting to me.
But, one thing that caught my attention was the author's mention of encouraging readers to not participate in church service. I understand that service is often held over worship, and that shouldn't be the case. But I think the author's suggestions on not offering help in ministry is too extreme. The text sounds like we are not doing the work of the Lord when being active in ministry (such as being a Sunday school leader, or usher), so there's no point in doing it. And that just is not the case in my opinion.
IreneUnited States4 Stars Out Of 5Lots of lessons to learnJanuary 18, 2012IreneUnited StatesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Best Friends with God uses stories from the Bible to help illustrate principles that will help you in your relationship with the Savior.
Each of the chapters in this book highlight a story found in Bible. The first uses the text of Luke 24. This is the story of Jesus walking with two men and answering questions for them. They don't realize He is the risen Lord until the end. The author, Christy Bower, does an excellent job of making this read like a story. The extra information given is very enlightening. Each chapter ends with questions to further your study on the topic discussed.
I enjoyed each chapter and felt they were all informative and had lessons Christians could learn from. My favorite chapter was the one about the prodigal son. This chapter discusses different bad attitudes that can affect our relationship with the Lord. You will learn ways to help keep those attitudes in check. I actually read this chapter twice as there was so many great principles taught there.
The book as a whole was informative and easy to read. The only negative I had was the author's use of a lot of personal experiences throughout the book. I would have enjoyed hearing about others who have experienced the difficulties discussed not just the authors every time. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to understand how to have a better personal relationship with the Savior.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based solely on my opinion of what I read.
