At the time of his death in 1813, he was heralded as one of America's three most notable men, along with George Washington and Benjamin Franklin.     Fabulous well-written history on an unknown signer of the Declaration of Independance. Every middle-schooler needs to read about this man.

    Interesting. This "signer of the Declaration of Independence, and "founder of five [American] universities and colleges" is never mentioned in the schoolhouses anymore; it's a rhetorical wonder why.
