I found out how I was named! When I asked my mom how she gave me this name, she said she had read a book and the main character was Sherrill and she liked who she was. When I asked her the name of the book she could not remember and neither did she remember the name of the author. This was long before google, email, etc. Fast forward 50 years and I was talking with a college friend who has a sister named Sherrill spelled the same as mine. When I shared about my mom, she immediately said that was how her mom had come to name her sister but she knew only the name of the author. With that information I googled that and up came the title. I found it listed on your website, ordered a copy, and loved reading this story. Now I know "the rest of the story."
It was so sweet. I love how he saved her that dreadful day and i love how he introduced her to Christ. Yeah maybe he should have visited more - but then he wouldnt be a stranger, maybe the affection should have been more descriptive - but then it was written in 1933, so yeah at that time even if the Author wanted to be descriptive I dont think the publishing company would have allowed it. So I am glad that instead of focusing on the physical aspect she focused on spiritual and made an awesome book of it!!
The storyline of this book is unusual, and some might say far-fetched. However, if anything like this could happen, it all makes for one beautiful expression of the caring of God for His own. Sherrill is a tremendously good, strong, and creative person, but I wonder if the main character shouldn't be "the beloved stranger"! This book certainly underscores the truth of Romans 8:28 in an unusual but powerful way.
