The easy-to-use format allows readers to identify and find their most pressing faith concerns. At the same time, when read in its entirety, Being Christian provides a solid topical introduction to Christianity. Relevant Bible passages are used throughout the book to enhance the reader's understanding of how Scripture informs its answers. Among the subjects discussed and deeply explored are God, the Bible, the church, sin, what it means to be saved by grace, how to discern God's voice, how to deal with guilt, and much more.
Designed for use by individuals, it's also a great resource for small groups and new believers' classes
John Shore is the author of I'm OK--You're Not: the Message We're Sending Nonbelievers and Why We Should Stop. He also blogs on Crosswalk.com. John and his wife live in Dan Diego, California.
"Being Christian: Exploring Where You, God, and Life Connect, Arterburn's latest offering, written with coauthor John Shore (I'm OK--You're Not), pushes the author into new territory. The work is written as a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) book on faith, a veritable primer of theology for the layperson...Arterburn and Shore write in a conversational, humorous voice, but deliver solid content. Being Christian will benefit new believers as well as veterans of the faith." --Christian Retailing

IreneUnited States4 Stars Out Of 5March 2, 2011IreneUnited StatesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Questions, Questions, Questions! All Christians have them and this book answers most of them. Whether you are a new Christian or a seasoned Bible believer you will find the answers you are looking for. The authors have divided this book into two sections. The first section answers questions about your personal relationship with God and others. The second half talks about the Bible and the Church.
There are fifty-one questions in the first section. What is prayer and how do I pray are two of these questions. The authors describe prayer as a deliberate turn of your mind towards the Lord.
They also explain that you pray by approaching God with a sincere and heartfelt faith.
There are forty-three questions in the second section. What is a parable and what is baptism are two of these questions. An earthly story with a heavenly meaning is the definition to a parable. Baptism is described as an outward expression of the inward change of becoming a believer.
Each question in this book is followed with an easy to understand explanation. The authors use Biblical references throughout and thoughtful stories to help you understand the more complicated questions. This book can be a great help when witnessing and should be on every Christian's bookshelf.

Rosa Blassingame5 Stars Out Of 5July 14, 2010Rosa BlassingameThis is a great book for new converts and seasoned Christians. I highly recommend it for all Pastors and Leaderships of all Churches. It is easy to read and the scriptures that accompany some questions are ideal.
Jo Mckeever5 Stars Out Of 5June 6, 2010Jo MckeeverI am about a quarter of the way through the book, and I believe it is the best book I have ever read on this topic. It is simple to read and understand, and I believe too many times people, especially men, tend to get way too technical instead of just accepting what the Word of God is telling us, in other words, they make it more difficult than it is even if they were looking for the right answers. I will be purchasing at least 10 more of these books, it is a great book for a mature christian, as well as new christians, or especially someone who is searching for answers to life's questions in all the wrong places.
