Lysa comes across like a friend in this video series. Set in her home (or what appears to be her home), it makes all of her teaching relevant to every day life. Our Bible study group got a great deal out of this just using the workbook. The video set up the lessons well enough without the main book.

As I read the first few pages of Becoming More Than A Good Bible Study Girl by Lysa Terkeurst (published by Zondervan 2009) I could almost hear her familiar radio chats aloud. Her comfortable, pull-up-a-chair-and-let's-talk writing style disarms readers and makes it easy for us to latch on to the penetrating truths she uncovers in these pages. Becoming More is a combination of poignant stories straight from Lysa's personal and professional life, insights into the method she uses for hearing God speak to her through Scripture, practical steps toward becoming a mature Christian woman, encouragement for the times we are all too human, and good old common sense for Christians.She seeks to help the reader answer this question positively, "When the strains of life press against us, do we live as if Jesus really works?To achieve this Lysa tackles six big issues that determine whether or not Jesus really "works" in her life, in my life, in your life.For women who are searching for authenticity in their lives and trying to reconcile their Sunday-Christianity with their weekday lives, it's a book well worth reading.The 213 pages are chocked full of practical advice for women hungry for more--more Jesus, more joy, more influence, more peace, more fulfillment. It will make a terrific book for discussion groups and book clubs, I think.
