Thank goodness for Mark. He always seems to be around with a shoulder to cry on. Then again, he's also always leaning in for a kiss. Could she really have a future with him? And what does the future hold anyway? College seems likely until a whirlwind trip to LA opens the door to a whole new world of opportunity in the music industry. Nothing is easy or simple in Beka's world. But one thing's for sure. As she tries to pick out melodies--on her guitar and her life--she also wants to keep her ears open to what God has to say.

Tell us a little about yourself. I'm from all over since my family moved around a lot when I was a kid - this would explain part of why I've stayed in the same town since my college graduation. I have a fantastic husband and three wonderful daughters. I do a majority of my writing during nap-time - it's about the only time a mom gets! But I must admit that sometimes I do waste too much time with a couple of guilty pleasures - blogging and e-mail. I love to read, watch television (Lost is amazing) and hang out with my family (though that usually means playing Uno or Chutes and Ladders).
What was your motivation behind this project? Hmmm - to be honest my motivation was always to share Beka's story. I didn't know at the beginning what would happen in the end, because I learned the story as I wrote it. That is the fun part of writing. I did want to write for teens because I care deeply about them and their truggles. For some reason, many adults forget that different things are important when you're 16 or 17. I wanted to write a story that teens could relate to.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The Encore will be the final installment of the Becoming Beka series. I think readers will enjoy finding out what happens to Beka and getting a glimpse of what is to come in her future. She has to make a lot of decisions during her senior year and I believe readers will be able to relate to many of her struggles.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? There would be so many answers to this question! Like most writers, I'm an avid reader. I love suspense authors like Dee Henderson and Brandilyn Collins. I've become immersed in historicals from BJ Hoff. I've laughed with authors like Tracey Bateman. I am always able to find something the author does well and try to learn from them. But I must admit, it is my own little family that inspires me the most because they love me no matter what I do.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I'm at work on a number of different projects, as well as working on a couple of screenplays so I'm looking forward to what might come in the next year. Thanks for reading!! Blessings to you all, Sarah Find me at www.becomingbeka.com.
