Overview


Because of Winn-Dixie is the story of 10-year-old Opal and her single dad, an itinerant preacher. They move to a small Florida town, where we see their struggles with loneliness she missing her mother, he missing his wife, and both without a friend in the world. We meet other lonely characters, all needing a friend and a healthy dose of unconditional love and redemption.


Enter a large, scruffy, affable dog with a knack for getting himself into trouble and into the hearts of everyone he meets. The pooch, Winn-Dixie, a friend to the friendless, turns the whole community upside down in more ways than one.
