Christians who possess this hope and live as though they possess it will learn godly submission, holy living, and harmony with other believers. These qualities will prepare them for what Peter paints in his epistle as inevitable-suffering and persecution. Though Peter is writing to warn a people who would soon be under the tyranny of a heathen Roman emperor, some level of suffering will always be a part of the believers' journey. A time is soon coming when living the "comfortable" Christian life will be far more costly than the life willing to give up all.Updated version. Scripture references are from the KJV and NIV. Discussion questions are included at the end of each chapter.

wyn4 Stars Out Of 5July 1, 2009wynAnother great bible study in the "Be" series. Mr. Wiersbe is a great commentarian and has written some excellent devotionals. This one on First Peter is welcome. That book of the bible is so full of rules and references about submission and suffering that it can be quite daunting to find the hope. This bible study definitely helps to clarify many points in the book. I liked how it went verse by verse and then had the overview of the chapter at the end of each study section rather than taking one theme and picking and choosing the verse. This is definitely a study/commentary about 1 Peter alone. It is a good study for individual or small groups.
Christy Lockstein4 Stars Out Of 5July 1, 2009Christy LocksteinBe Hopeful by Warren W. Wiersbe is part of his renowned and wonderful Be series digging deeply into each book of the Bible. Be Hopeful focuses on the book of 1 Peter. The book offers historical and spiritual insight while going through the book verse by verse and really breaking it down for readers. Each chapter ends with study questions for further reflection. Peter's message in this book was one of hope, despite the coming persecution he foresaw for followers of Christ, and every word of it is still relevant for believers today. It's an excellent study, and I hope to read more of the series.

Wiersbe. He is a well known Bible teacher and former pastor of The Moody Church in Chicago. He has written more than 160 books, including the BE series Bible commentaries.Be Hopeful is his latest Bible commentary covering the book of 1 Peter in the New Testament. It is divided into thirds: God's Grace and Salvation, God's Grace and Submission and God's Grace and Suffering. And, it includes follow-up questions for personal reflection or group discussion. The Be Hopeful is easy to read and a comprehensive resource. His commentaries would make a great gift for new-believers and the Bible scholar alike.
Stacey4 Stars Out Of 5June 8, 2009StaceyBe Hopeful by Warren Wiersbe is one of the most unique books Ive read. It is labeled a commentary of 1 Peter, but it is unlike any commentary Ive ever seen maybe I need to read more of these. Rather, it reads like a Bible study. Its loaded with thought-provoking study questions for personal reflection of group discussion, so it would be a great way to study 1 Peter alone or with a group. And the best part is that this book is part of a series of Be commentaries. I will definitely be on the lookout for these books.
