Basic Winston Grammar Set

Understanding traditional grammar is a necessary skill for any person in any age! The Winston Grammar Program doesn't follow the traditional approach, but instead has created an innovative course that focuses on using color-coded cards and workbook exercises, through which students learn nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositional phrases, coordinating conjunctions, interjections, nouns of direct address, subjects, direct and indirect objects, and appositives through moving, seeing, hearing, and speaking!

The teacher's guide accompanies each page in the included student workbook with a list and picture of the cards used; the concepts under discussion; directions for using the cards; a possible script; model lesson; important information; quiz options; suggested problems; and concepts students should make sure they know. Worksheet instructions and answers are also provided in the teacher's guide. The student workbook features the practice sentences students will use to identify the parts of speech, as well as a pre-test and post-test. The color-coded cards help instruct students on the parts of speech, what they do, and how to identify them as they work their way through a sentence.

1 Teacher's Manual, 69 pages, plus worksheet answers, softcover.

Student's Workbook, 30 worksheets plus post and pre tests, perforated, non-reproducible pages.

8 big noun function cards and 42 smaller cue cards, all color-coded.

All elements come in a Velcro-closure, clear vinyl case.

I am a student that is learning with the Winston Grammar Program and it is great! All grammar is boring at some point, but this is also very fun! I like the fact that it is so unique from other grammar programs.

Excellent program! note: This program is strictly grammar (no punctuation or capitalization instruction) but very effective in teaching the parts of speech.

This is an outstanding grammar program. I am using it with our 6th graders at our Homeschool Co-op and they are having an excellent time using this curriculum. Using the cards to parse out the sentences is an excellent method, and one that they all enjoy and "Get!"

Wonderful refresher for high school and had I known about it, I would have used it in the primary grades as well. A wonderful product to help a child understand grammar. Highly recommend this - it would be especially helpful for a parent who is also weak in grammar.

This program works! It is easy to teach, use of the cards really helps your hands on learner, and the built in review of every concept really helps fix the concepts. My kids used this over 2 years, just a few minutes per day. We are moving on the advanced set now.

I have been very pleased with this product. Using the cards with the lessons helps my tactile learner understand how to find and remember the parts of speech. We had tried other curricula and she just didn't understand grammar, but now she does! Also, the vinyl case is sturdy and helpful in keeping the materials neat and together.

This is an enjoyable and effective program!!! The scripted text for teacher/parent, the hands-on cards for students, and the simple progression of skills made this one subject we found easy to use and succeed at. We used this for students from 6th to 8th grade, including one who struggled greatly with reading and writing.

Finally a grammar program that worked for us! I used this program with my 2 kids (5th and 7th grades) They were really able to grasp the concepts being taught and by the end of the year were excelling! We will be using the advanced program next!
