Using popular games as a metaphor for our temporal lives, this six-session small group Bible study DVD, When the Game is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box, by John Ortberg, neatly sorts out whats fleeting and whats permanent in Gods kingdom.
Today is the day you choose which game you want to win which prize you want to collect which priorities you want to set. Its a thrill to win at checkers or Clue or Trivial Pursuit. You sweep aside the other players and you own the board. Its also a thrill to win a promotion at work the new house you wanted that sports car youve always eyed.
But just like the game cards, the tokens, and the timer, those prizes are temporary. When the game is over, they all go back in the box. Games can cast a powerful spell, says bestselling author John Ortberg. But the wisest player remembers that the game is always going to end. So when everything goes back in the box, youll have made what is temporary a servant to what is eternal, and youll leave this life knowing youve achieved the only victory that matters.
When the Game is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box will teach you to:
Live passionately and boldly
Learn how to be active players in the game that pleases God
Find your true mission and offer your best
Fill each square on the board with what matters most
Seek the richness of being instead of the richness of having
This DVD is designed for use with the companion Participant Guide (sold separately). When used together, they work as a powerful catalyst for spiritual growth.

Wendy5 Stars Out Of 5March 18, 2010WendyI am a chaplain at a jail-and this was a great tool for the men to think of eternal things, instead of temporal. I always enjoy John Ortberg's sense of humor-and so did the men-very easy to teach from.
Jimmie Hackworth3 Stars Out Of 5September 2, 2009Jimmie HackworthThis is a great study and well produced, but it's frustrating that the leader's guide that is included is practically useless and has none of the discussion questions in it. I just ordered 15 sets of participant guides for my leaders.
Wilma Buchholz5 Stars Out Of 5January 30, 2009Wilma BuchholzWe had our first session in our life group this past Wed. evening and all were very pleased with the guide as well as the DVD. It makes you put on your thinking cap and give the future a little more consideration. We are only here for a season and our time and efforts and habits in life need to be given more attention with God as our main source--there is so little time to change when we wait until the last minute to think on these things. I would highly suggest any small group to do the study with open hearts and minds to keep God uppermost in their daily walk.
Q: length of video for each session How long are the videos for each session? Sometimes products like this have only a short video piece and other times the video might be as long as 15-20 minutes.Do you only need the video and participants guide and leaders guide or is there a book people are to buy?
The video sessions are about 20 minutes each. The DVD and its included leader's guide are designed to be used with the participants' guides.
If anyone in your group would like to purchase the book for their own study it is available (CBD stock #WW253501), but not required for the group sessions.
