It's growing on me, but not like all previous Avalon albums. This just didn't have enough Avalon spin for me. Maybe it's the absence of Jody McBrayer, maybe not. It does seem that you hear more of Janna Long than anyone on this album. It's still very good, of course. There are so many other songs from the 80's that I would love to hear them do!
Well, I guess you could say that getting this CD was a dream come true for me. Avalon took a little less than two months to record this project, but then one of their founding members left earlier than expected, their tour had to be postponed and the release date was pushed back.Well ... enough about all that. I just got this AWESOME collection and am listening to it right now, as I am typing this review. Each member of Avalon brings a powerful talent and gift to the table here! Greg and Janna Long, along with Melissa Greene and Jody McBrayer (who recorded this as his final album with the group), all have huge God-given gifts with their voices, and it definitely shows here! Janna and Jody shine together on duets like "Addictive Love" (BeBe and CeCe Winans), "People Get Ready" (Crystal Lewis) and the title cut, "Another Time, Another Pace" (Sandi Patty and Wain Watson). The girls (Janna and Melissa) sing on "Basics Of Life" (4Him), which has been given a very soulful feel on this album. They also rock it out with the opener, "God Is In Control" (Twila Paris); and Melissa hits a big octave step with a very high A-flat at the end, and it blends in with the guitars! Gotta love this girl's range! Incredible! The group also covers "Solid As A Rock" (Michael English), whih has a great sound here. Try cranking this and see what happens! Two Amy Grant classics, "El Shaddai" and "Thy Word," are covered as well. "Thy Word" is light and airy, while "El Shaddai" is a beautiful duet between Jody and Melissa. I love the R&B feel and the acoustic guitar. And about their cover of "Addictive Love," I'd just like to point out that Jody and anna make a great BeBe/CeCe ... they're both soulful singers, so it's a perfect match for me!The Steve Green cassic "People Need The Lord" was always beautiful, but Avalon' cover here is just gorgeous!Another five stars for Avalon! Great job on the Christian classics!
