Then, because God established and so honors the principle of authority, He will back you as you walk in the government He has delegated to you concerning your extended world--your home, family, business, and possessions.
Finally, God's plan is for you to partner with Him on the earth in broader realms of influence and authority--your universal world. Jesus, the sovereign King over the earth, wants to rule institutions, cultures, societies, and governments through you and your prayers.
Authority in Prayer will show you how to take hold of God's promises and pray with the authority He wants you to have. God needs you. Are you ready to use your God-given authority to further His kingdom?

I'm very intrigued by people who can stay focused and connected with God for hours on end. This is why I was pleased to review "Authority in Prayer" by Dutch Sheets. (Yes, that's the author's name)I'm not sure what I thought this book would be or how it would catapult me into a prayer warrior mindset but I was open to whatever the Lord wanted me to see.
I certainly didn't read this book in an afternoon. It was at times humorous, at other times plodding. Occasionally I had to stop and look something up in my Bible and other times had to mark my Bible because I learned something profound. Mr. Sheets did a good job of clarifying the roles of power and authority as laid out in Scripture as well as what prevents us from having powerful prayers. (I won't go into it now - you can read the book)
One yellow flag, not a red flag - just yellow, that I have with this book stems from the portions of the book that deal with prayers of declaration. If the Holy Spirit is leading you to declare - awesome! But I have seen this abused. We do not order God!!! It is blasphemy and must never be done. So it isn't the book that I find fault with but rather people's tendencies to go to far; to make gods out of themselves.
No doubt, if I read this book again in a year, I'd get a lot out of it all over again. At times I knew I wasn't grasping what was being said but on a whole I feel blessed for having read it.
BTW, I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion.
cmwinnerHalifax, Nova Scotia, CanadaAge: 25-34Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5Don't agree with authorJanuary 4, 2015cmwinnerHalifax, Nova Scotia, CanadaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1Dutch Sheets gives many examples of how he and people he knows took hold of what they read in the Bible and prayed with "authority". He talks about examples of how we can "take charge" of our personal world and change the world around us.
Dutch gave several stories of his life and how he used those lessons in his life to change his prayer life.
I struggled in reading this book. It became clear to me that after the first few chapters, Dutch does NOT have the same fundamental believes that I have. There were many times I found myself scowling at the book and what I was reading. There really wasn't much of this book that I found I could apply to my life and my beliefs.
Towards the end of the book he stated "No one has more authority in your life then you do." I'm sorry I don't agree with that at all. GOD has the ultimate authority in my life. If I was married, my husband would have authority over me and I would be submissive to him. Yes, we need to pray for ourselves, but the way he states it , we should pray for our selves first. However, we should pray for ourselves LAST. It's Jesus Others You. That is what we should do and that is what I teach the children I work with.
I would have to say I do NOT recommend this book and almost wish I hadn't selected it as one of my free books I get to read and review.
I received this book free from Bethany House Publishers for the sole purpose of this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expresses herein are my own.

He tells humorous stories to illustrate what he is trying to say. I always learn so much when I read one of his books. He includes simple word study info to teach more fully the concept. This book is very easy to read. It is not too complex for any believer to read. By the end you will understand your authority in prayer and be ready to apply it.
