PastorDKansas City MOAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5If you love a book, dig deeper!December 26, 2014PastorDKansas City MOAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I learned a trick of the trade during the process of writing many book reviews in Seminary - "If you love a book, check out the books from which that author is quoting." J. I. Packer's Knowing God led me to Pink's Attributes of God and I was not disappointed.
Pink writes, "The foundation of all true knowledge of God must be a clear mental apprehension of His perfections as revealed in Holy Scripture. An unknown God can neither be trusted, served, nor worshiped."
Pink describes several attributes of God (can any one book, other than the Bible itself, fully contain all that we can know of Him?). For the preacher, the Table of Contents and the Scripture Index can form a ready-reference starting point, with chapters which describe attributes such as the supremacy, sovereignty, immutability, power, faithfulness, goodness, patience, grace, mercy, love AND wrath of God.
I like that there is room for my notes in the margins and that the font size is large enough to read without having to double-up with my reading glasses. The print is clear and the pages are durable. While Pink does a good job of providing a good "one-stop shopping experience" with the topics he has chosen, this is not an academic book in the sense that there are footnotes/end notes or an interaction with the original Hebrew and Greek languages. This makes it an easy read for all levels of academia, and in my humble opinion, it is a "must have" for the shelves of anyone wanting to grow deeper in their understanding of how awesome our God truly is!

There is no doubt that this may well be one of the best short works on the attributes of God.
none5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent Book. Served my purpose.July 25, 2012noneQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5Arthur Pink has done an fabulous job at identifying a few of the attributes of God and giving scriptures to support each one. If you want to experience greater intimacy with God, then read and meditate on the attributes in this book and began to praise and worship God who is worth of all of our praise and worship for He is God and God alone.
LisaNew YorkAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fantastic read! Biblically accurate.May 25, 2012LisaNew YorkAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Ron, You quoted 2 Peter 3:9 which is a common verse for those uncomfortable with the doctrine of election to quote. However, you're wrong. In being Berean-like Bible students, we must examine the Scriptures in their entire context. Peter was writing to Christians, and if you do your homwework of the context, along with a study of the Greek meanings of the words in that verse, you will soon learn that when Peter says, "God desires that all come to repentance," he is referring to "all" who have been predestined by God to be His children. Not an easy doctrine for our self-absorbed, "I think I have something to do with my salvation" mentality to accept, but nonetheless still true. God is sovereign and the only One Who justifies us...we have nothing to do with it.
