Man, if you like it bluesy and rocking, Ashley is your girl. The opener "Queen of Soul" is great, followed by a bluesy shuffle version of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground." "The Blessing" is a smoker, too. "Streams of Mercy" and "Twilight Hour" are two more good songs. Ashley sings with power and conviction; this CD deserved its grammy. Pick this one up quick and play it over and over again. In fact, I put this CD, Mike Farris' "Salvation in Lights," Jonny Lang's "Turn Around," Robert Randolph's "Unclassifed," Newworldson's "Salvation Station" in my CD player and hit random and just enjoy a bluesy groove all day long. Gospel music in this genre sounds great.

If you like plain and honest rock, you will love this. Though this may not be Ashley's best cd ever - in my humble opinion - it is still very strong, emotional and personal. There are quite a few gems on it just the same.
And then there is that voice! That inexplicable voice. Raw and tender at the same time. Is there any other female singer-songwriter with a more powerful, edgy instrument than hers? I think not. The things she can do. Just listen.
Ashley, thanks for singing and making beautiful music after all these years. You still move me. Love you!
