Product DescriptionLittle did David and Cassy Knight realize where their decision to homeschool their four children would lead them. As they strive to discover God's design for church and family, and to shield their growing children from a peer-focused, entertainment-driven youth culture, David and Cassy's own preconceptions are challenged again and again. As they lead their teenagers through the battles of rock music, peer pressure, purity, and even face decisions regarding government diplomas and college, the pressure to compromise mounts.
Yet will they go so far as to pull their children out of the church youth group? Wouldn't that be "un-Christian"? And what about dating, courtship, and marriage? David declares, "As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." But what does that mean on a daily basis? The Knights are about to find out.. Product Information

Located in: Didsbury, AB Submitted: April 25, 2011 Tell us a little about yourself. My husband, Gary, and I have been working in full-time ministry for over 18 years. We have four daughters, whom we have homeschooled for 15 years. I wouldn't trade our years of homeschooling and ministering together for anything. God has truly blessed our family! What was your motivation behind this project? I feel passionate about God's desire for Christian parents to train their children and give them a solid biblical foundation. After writing "Bringing Them Home," which deals with the Knights' decision to pull their children out of the public school and follows them through their first year of homeschooling, I knew the story couldn't end there. There are many issues key to the teen years which I wanted to address, as well as a biblical view of courtship. That is why I wanted to continue the story and went on to write "As for Me and My House". I wanted to share some of the challenges we faced through our own homeschool journey, and the blessings we've experienced along the way. Sometimes taking the less traveled road can feel lonely, and it is encouraging to hear from others who have been there before. What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope to encourage parents to teach their teens to be discerning in a world where we are bombarded with so many unbiblical messages. It is easy to compromise and follow the patterns of our culture, but this can lead our children down the wrong path. It is possible to raise our families to a higher standard. If I challenge parents to do this, I will have accomplished much. How were you personally impacted by working on this project? It was a tremendous blessing to me as I worked through many of the issues we faced during our homeschool journey through the lives of my fictional characters. I am excited about "As For Me and My House". It reflects our current journey, one which has led us counter to our culture as we seek to honor God as a family.
