The second album release from As Cities Burn evidences a lineup and style change, pushing forward from their energetic, spastic growling sounds of Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest towards the realm of melodic but eerie, inspiring and challenging. Includes "Clouds," "Empire," "New Sun," and more.

If you’re expecting to be blasted with the same hardcore screaming sound of As Cities Burn’s debut, you’re in for a surprise when the band greets you with the moving and melodic emo of Come Now Sleep’s opening song, “Contact.”
Clocking in at more than six minutes, the tone setting track sounds like something Jason Martin of Starflyer 59 could have written. So what happened?
As it turns out, lead screamer T.J. Bonnette got married and decided to move on; so the act announced it was disbanding and even did a farewell tour. The fan reaction to the breakup was so strong that As Cities Burn decided to keep going with its guitarist (T.J.’s brother, Cody) on lead vocals. You will notice an immediate difference in both the sound and dynamics, as Cody is singing rather than screaming. But what makes this album so much better than the band’s debut is what he is singing. The melodies are much stronger, and the lyrics are so honest and real they can move you on their own. This is not fluff for folks sitting in the pews; these are songs about real life struggles, hope, failures and grace.
Musically, fans of As Cities Burn’s debut will still find plenty of intensity on this heavy record and even a few screams here and there, but the style on most of the tracks has shifted. Heavy, yet melodic and artful, Come Now Sleep won’t let you rest for very long.

Following up 2005’s critically acclaimed Son I Loved You at Your Darkest will be a tall order for these guys, but judging from the poignantly abrasive new track on their Pure Volume page, the new disc, Come Now Sleep, should not disappoint. As Cities Burn played the Smartpunk stage at this year’s “Warped Tour” and boasts one of the most dissonant and interesting live shows around. If you are a fan of post-hardcore with a mixture of screamed and sung vocals, this is the ticket. Think unconventional song structures and interesting arrangements, always imaginative and never sterile. I can honestly say of all the bands I watched last year at Cornerstone, they were in my top two as far as their show is concerned (second only to As I Lay Dying).

Reviewed by MJ (Milwaukee, WI), January 02, 2008 Let's get the initial tagline out of the way: Buy this CD, it is awesome. Ok, now that we've got that out of the way... Some of the best Christian music I've heard. Original sound, great Christ-filled lyrics. The issue with me has always been finding "Christian" bands that not only have a great original sound, but ALSO include the title of their genre in the songs: Christ. What's the point in calling yourself a Christian band and not giving praise to Christ or at least sing about Christianity and God? Well, these guys are ORIGINAL and Christ-centered and SOUND AWESOME. What a combo!! I highly recommend buying this album. Write a review of Come Now Sleep CD
