This is the 3rd curriculum that I've tried for early elementary. It is my favorite by far of the 3. It is fun and colorful and slowly progresses is a spiral pattern. It is not like pulling teeth. Later in Abeka it becomes "drill and kill" but for Kindergarten through 5th grade or so it's good.

I like that while this series is religious they are not over the top. There are relatively few references and are easily avoided if you would prefer a secular curriculum but still want a colorful workbook that is a real curriculum and not only a supplement. My daughters easily finish a complete lesson in 15 minutes. We do not use the teachers book and I don't miss it- but I have taught this material to 2 kids already.

I love the manageable workload and ease in teaching. My children love the variety of problems, and the fun lay out of the pages. Super math program for 1st graders.

This curriculum is fantastic. It is broken down into small segments and is bright, colorful. By far the most challenging first grade curriculum out there. If you look at the Table of Contents you will see they start introducing fractions, Roman Numerals and 3 digit addition.

I was worried this would be too much for my kindergartener. He has a high math aptitude.

He quickly flew thru Horizons K Math. I wanted something that he wouldn't fly thru.

At this grade level I did not find the need to have the teacher's manual. In fact, I found it annoying because It mostly tells how and what to do with the math manipulative items.
