Hot Apple Cider lives up to its promise of 'Stirring the Heart and Warming the Soul.' It's good to read such inspiring words from various and talented, Canadian authors. From the heartfelt emotive sharing from Angelina Faast Vlar, a cancer survivor to a 'true confessions' story of Canada's award winning non-fiction writer, Shiela Wray Gregoire and everything else inbetween, I fell in love with this book. It is the kind of book best read in intervals, for the stories and poetry contained within take the reader on a journey so varied that one minute laughter is the emotion of the moment and next, tears flow like a river. As one reads through the foreward by award winning fiction writer, Janette Oke, the passion for writing becomes evident. The introduction compiled by editors Wendy Nelles and NJ Lindquist sum it up as they write: "There's no way to create Apple Cider except to bruise and crush the fruit. Our Canadian weiters have the scars to prove they've experienced some of life's hard issues and grinding problems. They've been knocked to the ground by stormy winds...and learned that only experiences like these can create the character, insights and deepening of faith that produce rich, tangy writing. Drink deeply from the life-giving words in this book..." This invitation to read Hot Apple Cider has drawn this reader in mightily and I have had the privilege of stepping into the shoes of these great Canadian Authors and have enjoyed the sipping and savoring of Hot Apple Cider. I would highly recommend this book as a gift for those who love to read and for those who want to be inspired and challenged in their daily walk.
