The story line is mesmerizing and believable and is very well acted. You gain an appreciation for the humanity of Paul and the other early church believers, making the New Testament history relatable to our own present-day struggles.
I particularly think this would make a really good introductory video to Jesus for Muslims and Hindus who honor personal devotion to God. In my missionary work here in the U.S., many foreigners have told me that they have never been invited into an American home. Why not make a meal-and-a-movie night and share your own personal testimony as God opens up the conversation. Keep it natural and honest. Don't preach to them; just show the video and explain your own journey with Jesus. Invite them to ask questions about the Bible or what it means to be a Christian. Be friends first and invest in their lives. "They will know we are Christians by our love."
Recommendation: Explain to people up front that Paul is in a Roman prison awaiting death and has a couple of encounters with the devil who seeks to break Paul's faith. Those unfamiliar with the New Testament historical account will probably not understand what is going on in these brief moments.
We watched this last night. It started a tad slow but it was so good. I have watched alot of "bible movies" and this one really captured me...I think mostly because we seen the disciples as human and really brought that to the table. I grew a connection with them. I loved all the scripture and everything about this movie.
One thing i will add....watch the deleted scenes....i know the movie would have been longer but ..i wish they had put in all the scenes that they made...they were good.
If you like watching movies about the bible...you will enjoy this.
