This was our first year using Apologia science. We ordered the Human Anatomy and Physiology text book and Notebooking Journal. I also ordered the Human Anatomy and Physiology Kit for experiments. My seventh grade daughter loved this science curriculum and I did too! Each day we looked forward to science. She especially enjoyed the experiments in "Try This". I highly recommend this book for homeschoolers looking for a way to explore anatomy and physiology in a "hands on" way that engages the learner without being too technical or difficult. My only negative comment is that there were no written tests included. However, the notebooking journal is a keepsake and reminder of all my daughter learned in this course.

This is our first time using this Apologia series and we love it! This is well written curriculum. We have the journal (my two children share and copy pages) that makes it so much easier and fun to go along with the book. I think if we didn't have the journal it would be hard to do all the projects...it's a must!!!

I love this book and it's companion workbook (which I do recommend using, it's laid out like a lap book). I typically do not care for science, and I find that because of this I have a hard time presenting it in an exciting and fun way. At first it seemed that this would be way over my boys heads (grades 4 and 2) but they love it! We take it slow and only go through as much information as they can handle, so lesson one took us five sessions. The information can be a lot but the way it is explained combined with the note booking journal (I wish I would have used the junior journal for my fourth grader too) activities, and pictures help with retention. Now, I even get excited and can say I like Science! Also on a personal note, we have been studying Ancient Greece and Rome so when the book started talking about people from that time it really got their attention.

I've heard good things about the Apologia series, and this anatomy curriculum did not disappoint. I use it for three kids (ages 11,9, and 7) with the notebooking journals. (The 7-yr-old used the junior notebooking journal.) The lessons are well-written and easy to understand, and the kids enjoy the Try This! activities and the experiments.

In the notebooking journals is included a lesson plan for the whole year, set up for two days per week. This was a great help to me as this is my first year homeschooling my kids. you can pick and choose which activities you want your child to do in the journal, and it's not just black and white and taking notes. There are mini books to cut and paste, crossword puzzles, and many other different activities. I also like the scripture copywork that goes with the lesson.

Everything taught in the book is tied into creation, which I love. Although we only use one textbook (to save money), it would probably be easier with one text per child.

Am using this book and the notebook journal with a 5th grader and 1st grader. They both love it, as do I. The journal provides a nice addition to the curriculum and keeps all work in one place. I use this mainly for my 5th grader but the 1st grader soaks up a lot and enjoys learning along with his brother. Would definitely recommend this!
