WoofiejoAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good Questions God Asked In The Bible...Still Relevant TodayOctober 25, 2014WoofiejoAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Great book with reflective questions based on the questions that God asked in the Bible. For example, after they sin God asks Adam and Eve "Where are you?". After Cain killed Abel, God asks "Where is your brother?". And God asks Moses at the burning bush, "What's that in your hand?". God doesn't ask these questions because He doesn't know the answers. He asks the questions so that the listener will reflect on their current situation, their relationship with God and where their faith is. King says "God's questions are a way of blessing us. He longs to heal, forgive, and restore. But God can also use questions to search us, know our hearts, and test what they contain".
Heather C. King is a talented new writer. Each chapter is filled with personal anecdotes from her life and is packed with scripture to support her points. She is the mother of four young children so I think young mothers will relate most to this book. She talks about the challenges of raising young children, the busyness of this time, and the way that it leaves her sometimes emotionally and physically exhausted. Each chapter is based on a specific question that God asked of somebody in the Bible....and you feel like you are in the middle of the story. She shows how each question is relevant to us today. King does a great job dissecting the context of those Bible stories and brings a fresh twist to what God is saying in stories that you may have heard over and over. This book is great for personal study but can also be used as a group Bible Study. At the end of each section she has the same four reflective questions to: 1. Make it personal 2. Make it connect 3. Make it real 4. Make it last. This is a book that is easy to read but it is not easy reading. The reader will benefit most by taking time to read carefully through each chapter, reflect on the meaning of the story and look for ways to apply the information to their daily walk.

King takes readers on a journey that challenges comfort zones, confronts personal fears, both real and imagine, and encourages faith and trust in our Father in Heaven, to convict, to challenge and to encourage the growing believer to follow His ways.
Filled with personal anecdotes, challenging questions that are perfect for both personal study time or in a group study, I really enjoyed reading this book as a wife, a mother and as a woman, who find life, not cookie cutter, but changing each day with new discoveries, challenges and experiences.
I found this book to be endearing and filled with open discussions that really draws the reader out and with life always changing, I think this is something that any woman would enjoy reading when wanting to find herself living life for God to the fullest.
This isn't a fast read.
This isn't an easy, five minute study.
You won't open this book and begin reading and find yourself lightly touching Scripture.
Instead, Heather really takes the reader deep into the Bible with what I felt was a refreshing and humble look at Biblical stories and along with it, an inquisitive, what is God asking of us and what can we discover in His word, the Bible?
I really enjoyed her book, for how each chapter not only leaves one feeling challenged but also with better understanding that God does understand and laying out a foundation of trusting God and with that our lives.
"Ask Me Anything, Lord" is a thought provoking and delightful bible study that a Christian looking to really be challenged, convicted and encouraged should definitely check out and at the end of each chapter, but will leave the reader going, "Lord, Ask Me Anything".

bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Allowing God's questions to penetrate our heartFebruary 19, 2014bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you're like me, you ask God lots of questions. Heather did too. She was surprised when God asked her a question. "What do you want me to do for you?" She realized God was searching her heart, revealing her inner desires.
As she studied the Bible, she saw many questions that God asked. These were not questions for God to increase His knowledge. They were questions to break through the walls we create and to clean out the deep places of the heart.
Here are a few of the questions and the lessons Heather gleaned from them. Using God's question to Cain about his brother, Heather writes about our living in community and reflecting God's love. Using God's question to Hagar, we learn that God always has a plan, even when all seems lost. We learn how to explore the tools God has given us from the question He asked Moses. From the question God asked His disciples when the 5,000 needed to be fed, we see that God can do the impossible with the meager offering we give Him.
Heather has included a study session at the end of each section (nine total). There are questions, Scripture to review, a verse to memorize, and suggestions for journaling.
This is a great book for women who want to know God better and learn how to hear His voice. Even if you're a seasoned Christian this would be a great book as it brings to your experience a new way of studying Scripture. It will also give you a new perspective on familiar stories.
If you are willing to have God's questions penetrate the deep places in your heart, you will benefit from this book.
